Decided to dink around with this Fujimi kit while deciding on some ideas for my 350Z. I glued the resin parts on which were all undersized due to resin shrinkage. I have added styrene strips and putty to begin correcting the size problem. I also added the hood vents from the Pennzoil Skyline which is donating several parts to a few projects.

I opened up the front grill which had a resin intercooler molded in.

I had to split the rear skirt in half so that it would fit all the way across the body, therefor the putty in the center to fill the gap.

The kit supplies a white metal GT Wing, but it doesn't look as good as Aoshima's or SAS so I will use one of those.

Looks like you went for a different alternative than I did. Yours looks easier but looks great, maybe I should've done it your way. :uhoh:

Well too late now. I'm finished with my body work and I've painted it up.
It's got a shine and all the decals. The tail lights and headlights are on.
And it's painted in a deep dark blue paint but not too dark.

But I wouldn't suggest it. I sort of regret it and wish I'd given it the yashio factory look. :frown:

Yours looks great, I think every kit has that problem of the rear shrinking cause I too had that problem. I can't show pics for awhile though because the computer that I load pictures into has a slight problem at the moment.

Cool! Can't wait to see your treatment of it!

What type of putty is that? It looks like toothpaste. :P

When I ordered mine from HLJ recently, it was out of stock, a few days later they had it again. Apparently they can get them when they want to.

I noticed the other day that its discontinued again http://www.hlj.com/cgi-perl/hljpage.cgi?FUJ18612

Got first coats of primer on after lots of tweaking the body kit with putty. I think it's going to wear AVS 5's and a rear wing from Tamiya's WRX. The wing sort has some of the same shapes found in the body work, and keeps the car looking low to the ground. Don't know what color it will be yet.

Still have more smoothing and tweaking to do.

The Penzoil hood and WRX spoiler are real nice touches. I can see the finished piece now, possibly one of your best!

I like the wing, but IMO, a racing one would look much better. Nice work.

I've decided to go with these wheels, to me the car looks racey, and so do these BBS rims. It's wearing the final primer coats and will be painted a two tone aqua and light gunmetal with gunmetal wheel color, if I like a test shot of the aqua.

Got the base coats of Modeler's Aqua on, it sprays on really smooth like Tamiya TS paints. Two coats over the white primer covered plenty good, now onto masking and spraying the gunmetal portion on.

Got second painting phase done, I used Finisher's CLK Silver instead of gunmetal. The aqua really comes alive in daylight. Lot's of work left to do, just starting on the chassis and interior, it's going to be a challenge to get an intercooler behind the grill!. :banghead:
