I'm sure I will get made fun of for this...

I'm new to all this car stuff so please have patience  I am looking at adding air bags to my car and I was wondering what the disadvantages would be to doing this. Of course my reason for doing this is so that I can raise it whenever I need to and the fact that it would look good. I want to know why I should or should not do this. Thanks

Run a search, there was a very informative thread on Air Bags posted by Rice-Rocketeer that should cover everything you want to know.

pros: adjustable height at the push of a button, comfortable ride
cons: worse handling, adds a lot of weight, expensive

You said worse handling (which I'm not disagreeing with) but if I were to have air cylinders + anti-sway bars (correct me if I'm wrong I'm new to all this) wouldn't that make the handling better?

the only main prob i know is that the bags have been prone to blowing alot and its not cheap to replace an air bag, but i would go with air cylinders

it might counteract the loss of handling from the air bags but im not sure if it would counteract and increase... wait till CivicSiRacer or Jackasssi respond, they know their shit :D

Well air bags are not meant for everyday driving. I've seen all air bag cars are bouncing down the road AND with a nice car you want better handling which means shocks and springs/coilovers not air bags. PLus like someone said the system itself is heavy and on a torqueless Honda it will make the car slower.
Plus they are usually more expensive then the shock/spring or shock/coilover combo and not many people know how to install air bags compared to shocks and springs.
But hey it's your car :)

:iagree:
If the handling was better than coilovers, race cars would use air bags instead.

Yea...I guess I'll jsut have to be careful...although the air ride would be very nice...I'm not expecting it be as good as coil-overs but I figured the air cylinders wouldn't make it any worse than stock...

hmmmm, this sounds like a job for me! haha
Airbags are cool for showing off and stuff, nothing else. Most of them leak, and they can cause other problems too. I killed my battery several times by the compressor coming on when the car was off. Like the others said, I wouldnt advise bags for everyday driving, they are meant mosty for shows and weekends and stuff.
