Hm, it does look awkward at first sight, but it might jus be one of those cars that have to grow on you...
but at this stage, on those pics...???
Barf!!!

The race car looks funky because the street car is funky, I kind of like it. Will take time getting used to like the front end on the previous WRX. That windhield is really raked back!

Didn't Toyota find that the steeply raked back windshield on the Celica was a major detriment to visibility.

I thought maybe the rake was just an illusion on the 307 body style, but comparing it to the 206, It appears more severe.

Shame it doesn't have the open top feature though. I still prefer the 206, more nippy, or may be it's only because for me, the 206 was the true daughter of the 205 T16.

Really looks very strange.
I was looking on road version before WRC came out and I was trying to figure out how it wil looks like rally car. I didn't imagine that than, and now either. Doesn't looks like rally car.

Agreed, it look more to me like touring car.

No, I'm not keen on the shape of the new car. The steeply raked front seems at odds with the more angular rear, it looks like the front of a van has been combined with the back end of a saloon.
Does anyone know why they went with the 307CC bodyshell instead of the existing hatchback version?
It will be interesting to see what Marcus will be able to achieve in it next year.

Still pretty weird. More weird than pretty.

There could be some performance advanteges (weight distribution? :dunno: ), but I feel that first and foremost it's purely for marketing reasons.

yea marketing would be my #1 thought as to why they went with that car.

Marketing is behind it indeed.
I think it's butt ugly. Especially in the action picture from Marco you can see that the front and rear are meant to go on a different car each. They don't belong to the same car. :spit:
And Freddy is supposed to run in something like that next year :shakehead That doesn't look to good.

Considering the car it is based on the 307 WRC was always going to be hideous. Interesting they chose to use the coupe, may have conferred some aerodynamic advantages at the rear. The back half looks okay, but no denying that steeply raked windscreen is nasty. What is it with car designers these days? First the frog faced Impreza now this?
On the positive side the new engine is badly needed, the old one many years out of production and therefore unable to be updated. I think the Marlboro livery works better on the new car than the 206. Rear wing looks a bit too small, needs some fins! Or maybe Peugeot, who started that particular trend, have decided to drop them.
