Hi guys, I am back with same problem: power steering box has too much play. is it any fix for it. on older ones there is bolt on top of it, you just tide it up and it's done. on my 740i there just couple wires going in it. what is purpose of them? do I need to buy hole steering box? thanks!

Jay,
I had unpredictable play in my 1990 735i steering system and it turned out to be old sterring fluid. Once I pumped out the old fluid and drained the lines, my sterring problem was solved. Lucus makes an outstanding power sterring fluid conditioner for the seals. Also check tie rods for wear. I just stumbled upon another forum that my be of use to your problem, go to http://shrubbery.student.utwente.nl/ for sterring box adjusting. Good luck
