How hard would it be to put a SOHC V-tec head on my D16A6?

I dont think it would be to hard, i think the only mods you would have to do is change the ECU and wire up the V-TECH

Please please both of you, realize its VTEC, none of the other things you guys have been calling it. I figure I can let you guys know now, before you get flamed around here, some people can get a little anal about it. But from now on, just make sure you call it what it is.

geez how many threads have there been on this in the last 2 days?
anyways, generally it isnt worth it .. just drop the entire d16z6 in there.

well what if he cant afford a complete z6 as of right now? yeah please use v-tec as some guys i know will talk alot of trash about there v-tech phones. anyways there is a little more modifications than you think. go here....complete instruction how too....might i add its the cheap way. vtec wired off of a shift light. rpm sensors.....but it works....it would be better to change to the vtec computer as it adjust the fuel and ign mapping while in vtec and while not. http://crx.honda-perf.org/articles/z6swap/z6swap.html (http://) in my opinion though......depending what you pay for the head....less than 100 id go for it....anything more id just save up for a cam.

biting the bullet and getting the z6 now is a hell of a lot better option than having a half assed a6/z6 setup that is unreiable as hell and will have you end up spending the same amount if not more on repairs than the z6 would have cost in the first place.
Yes i know this setup can probably be done reliably, just like lsvtec and crvtec setups can be done reliably, but the guy who does an lsvtec setup is not telling you that he probably spent more money than it would have cost him to do a straight b18c1 swap.
Plus MOST places dont know how to do these hybrid head swaps ... as some of you know i have a friend who is currently doing a crvtec setup into a 94 integra ... it took him quite a while to find a shop that would do the actual work (oil lines, vtec solenoid, all other shit involved) and has spent MADD money on this (more than he cares to think about)

i beg to differ. a complete z6 is almost as cheap as the head swap these days. you can find vtec head for $150-200 or a complete z6 for $250 (if you keep an eye open). just sticking on the head :thumbsdow it will never be reliable. big waste of money. maybe it was worth it back in the day when a z6 was $800 or more and hard to get....but these days they are a dime a dozen.
you say your gf's is running good....that is the first time i have ever heard that. but maybe since it was converted. if that was the case then you shouldn't be talking about not being able to afford the z6 swap. if a person can't "afford" the swap then chances are they can't "afford" to convert to obd1. a z6 + rpm activate switch = more reliable vs a6 + head + obd1 conversion.
