engine swap page

I decided since there's so much different views on engine swaps and people confuse the engine codes and whether it's i6 or v6 that I would make a page. It's far from finished as you can see by the colors, info and general layout, but it's a start and a good one considering I typed it all up (I hate editors) in less than 3 hours. There's a lot more to the site with other cars and other info on the 240, but it isn't ready for upload .
http://klohiq.tripod.com/240sx
I know it's missing HP, redline, and torque numbers and some things might be off a little or completely, but I'm working on getting all the info. If you want to help then just post a link where I can get info on stock specs or post specs. Please make sure your info is correct.
I'm also going to be looking for info on 0-60 times of both modified (not insanely modded either) and stock swaps and I want them to be (relatively) correct. 1/4 times and maybe some other stats would be nice, but this is all a little far off until I get the all the basic info on the swaps. I will also have the final drives and gear ratios for each gear a long with some detail dimensions of each engine.
Eventually there will be pictures for most of the swaps...obviously similar swaps will share photos and I will put up some sort of step-by-step process. I know some people might be against people making this info so readily available to ricers, but I know there will be at least a few enthusiasts that will get some benefit from this site when it's done.
After I finish with detailing Nissan-to-Nissan swaps I plan to do some work on various other japanese, german and domestics...along with trying to detail unusual swap ideas that are rarely done...like 2JZ into a 240 or something...
Post your thoughts on this please (good or bad)

ok for the KA24DE:
you put 92+ and should be 91+
engine cost, I can get one for 800 bucks with 30k on it, 1,500 is the most you would ever see, if its more than that its either rebuilt or your getting ripped
one horsepower cieling you have 250-300, way off, you ever read the magazine 'Japanese'? I think it was june or july they had a 240 with a 420hp KA24DE-t, so you may want to adjust your ceiling a bit
stock 5spd KA24DE should have a 0-60 of 7.5, or atleast thats how car and driver listed it in the 94 issue for the 240sx, so it should be trust worthy information
stock 5spd 1/4 mile for KA24DE should be 15.9 with a good driver most people prolly lose a couple tenths
I'm not positive but I believe the redline is 8k, maybe someone with a 240 can correct that if I'm wrong
glad I could help

Thanks for the info Soyo and mynismo, adding your info and finding as much info as I can from doing searches. Adding 1/4 and 0-60 times tonight maybe if I don't get too tired. Also looking for a page with Nissan engine codes...as I'm trying to piece together a full list of them as a reference since I haven't seen a full list anywhere...just inline 6 lists or i4 lists...Also mpg is going to be a hard one to find for most swaps other than an SR...
I'll keep everyone updated - Later

yes it is a great idea but some of your prices and info is a lil off... also you may want to put numbers in with upgraded internals. for instance the rb26 handles about 550-600 with stock internals, but if you upgrade them it handles well over 1000hp.

There's a couple things about the VQ35 swap. The VQ35 has an electronic throttle, and it could be very difficult to adapt that.
However, engines will not be so expensive. The Pathfinder began using the VQ35 back in '01, and sometimes you can find a motor on Carparts.com. The only difference is the output(240hp/265lbft) and the state of tune.
Another option is the VQ30DE. These have been around in fwd form since 1995, and are pretty cheap(as low as $400). They have a regular cable throttle, so there won't be any of the VQ35 headaches. Power varies from 190hp/205lb-ft, 222hp/217lb-ft, to 227hp/2xxlb-ft.
Tuning potential and the aftermarket isn't too bad. The stock cam profile is incredibly mild, and Jim Wolf Technology has a more agressive set. Theirs are supposed to be a bit mild too, so if you can get the JWT specs, you can try to figure out a more aggressive profile for yourself and just get a regrind done.
If you get a 95-99 VQ, you can also get the variable runner intake that the VQs in other countries(Middle East, New Zealand, Japan) had. It provides gains of up to 30hp on the top end, with a minimal loss of low end torque.
Stillen's Vortech supercharger is still a viable option, as are several Maxima turbo kits that can probably be adapted for a rwd application.
If you can get your hands on a rwd transmission from an '01-up Pathfinder or better yet, a 350Z, the transmission and engine will bolt up. The only worries come from the starter, which is engine mounted on rwd cars, and is tranny mounted on the fwd cars. The 350Z and Pathfinder trannies do have a place to mount the starter, however. The oil pan doesn't match up either, but that shouldn't be a major problem.
There's also the option of a VQ30DET or the VQ25DET...if you can find one. They are both rated at 276hp. The VQ30DET was also rwd only, IIRC.

incase you want this, KA24DE intake valve 54mm, exhaust valve 41.5mm
and maybe you could find out tire sizes, cuz thats something I would like to know personally

tires sizes for what? just a regular s13/14 240sx? or what?
and maybe i will add valve sizes...maybe just simple info on the main page and then have a link beside each engine for nearly all specs since I know someone sometime is going to want to know some little detail about a specific engine...
VQuick: thanks for all that info, not sure how much of it will make it into the site, but ill try to implement at least part of it if not most of it.
mynismo: yeah I was trying out a max power rating for all engines along with the projected/possible rating that it has currently, but it's so hard to find actually max amounts and with enough money any of the engines listed could have 1000 horsepower if you dont care about engine life...still might add a second projected power rating for all engines for race/drag potential or something

About the ka24de's redline. My SOHC starts its dashed redline at 6, solid redline kicks in at 7. And im sure the ka24de is the same. At best it has no dashed redline but just a solid redline that starts at 7. my :2cents:
P.S.-nevermind, didnt see you had put that down for the turbo KA24DE

Let me try to put it in your format:
VQ30DE(K)
Donor Car(s): VQ30DE in A32 Maxima(1995-1999 US model), VQ30DEK in A33 Maxima(2000-2001 US models)
Stock Horsepower: 190 hp @ 5600 rpm(A32 VQ30DE), 222hp @ 6400rpm(A33 VQ30DEK)
Stock Torque: 205 lb ft @ 4000 rpm(A32 VQ30DE), 217 lb ft @ 4000rpm(A33 VQ30DEK)
Redline: ~8,000 rpm
Compression: 10:1
Bore & Stroke: 93 x 73.3
Dimensions (with manual tranny):
Fuel Economy (city/highway):
Good: Can be cheap, good low-end, very lightweight(108lbs), very turbo friendly for an NA motor.
Bad: Aluminum block, lack of top end on non DEK motors. Note: Can be fixed with variable intake manifold from Courtesy Nissan.
Engine Cost: $400-up Varies on age.
Install Cost: n/a
Aftermarket Support: Fair
Modified Horsepower Ceiling: 450+fwhp in Maximas
I guess maybe you can just say the VQ30 is a cheaper option to the VQ35 and that the rwd Pathfinder tranny will bolt up. That's the condensed version of what I said.hehe
