Would I have power?

I have an 88 Civic DX that is auto. I don't feel like changing it to manual because I want to see what I can do with it. I know I have a few advantages with the auto tranny too. I want to go get a ZC engine and go turbo. With the auto tranny I should have better traction off the line and also have alot less turbo lag. So my question is if I did this and also got a torque convertor would I be able to hang wit other cars that are manual? I plan on putting forged internals in the ZC, building the bottom end up, and running a 55 shot of ZEX through it. I know the engine and tranny can take this power. I will hopefully be looking at around 250hp. with about 8lbs. of boost. I will shoot for 14lbs though.

Well...you might have more traction, but you won't be able to rev it to spool the bad boy up...unless you neutral drop it, but that wouldn't be too smart. I have an auto too...the good thing about them with turbos is that the boost should stay more consistent.
I have no clue if you can keep up with manuals...that's a pretty open question, since they could have anything done to their car. But if it's the same exact setup...I think a manual is going to beat an auto just about every time. Not sure how much difference an aftermarket torque converter will make...I'd like to try one out though, if they make 'em for my car, that is.

About the spooling of the turbo, that is where the nitrous comes into play. I will only be using it to help spool the turbo. Also I will be getting all my tranny parts from LEVEL TEN.COM. They have a device there called the shiftronic that will allow me to correctly shift the gears myself so it will basically be like a manual.

Your transmission will die after a few weeks putting that much power through it. Turbos don't spool off the line with an auto car unless you have a big converter and/or 2-step and/or a brake. Spraying a 55 shot of zex off the line is just going to result in you spinning from all the torque that nitrous makes down low. If you want to go fast with a honda there pretty much isn't any way to do it but with a stick.

Yeah, automatic transmissions already go through hell with all the torque they put out right away...NOS could kill it quick.

However, good link! Hadn't seen a site that did that for autos!
