hi guys. right now i own 2 talons, a turbo and a non turbo. im thinking of getting rid of the non turbo and buying a 2.5rs. but first i want to know. is it reliable. what will it run on the 1/4 stock, does it respond well to mods and is it possible to turbo it and if yes is it hard? any info will be appreciated thank you

My first car was a 99 2.5 RS...great car! In my point of view it's a reliable car too. The only problem I ever had was a premature wear on a rear wheel bearing, but that could be due to hard driving. The second year I owned the car I slapped a 70 dry shot of nos, and sprayed it all day long without one problem!
I dont know too much about turbo charging them, so I wont say, but I imagine it's not too hard.

I drive a 2003 TS. It is a very reliable car. The Impreza is one of the most common cars on the rally racing circuit, where they have to be in virtually stock format, so it has to be tough. And although mine is generally stock (until the warranty runs out) a lot of people mod the heck out of them with great results (including aftermarket Turbos).
The 1/4 mile times I've seen for the RS range from 16.0 seconds to as low as 12.0 seconds, depending on the mods. I think WRX's run in the 14.8 second range stock.

i really like the way they look and im in college right now so thats why i was asking about the reliability. i also want to mod it. if you say you seen them run 12s thats good enough for me. cause i want a car that is capable atleast 13s with mods. i dont want to go lower than 13s because i dont want to start running into major problems. my talons are giving me such a headache. my non turbo daily driver is have its 2nd tranny rebuild. and now it needs some major engine work cause its burning oil

wonderfull car. definatly stable. driver, year, and at/mt will affect your 1/4 time alot. im not certin about the rs but i know my auto is a 3 speed which is great for 0-60 but bad on 60-100. i have heard of alot of 4 speed ones. with a skilled driver running a mt stock in the 2.5 id say mid 15's no problem. with every basic mod minus no2 and turbo this car should run a low 14. go for major mods still without turbo or no2 and it should run in the 13's but thats gonig to take mad mods. with a turbo or no2 you should run 13's without so many mods and with the slew of mods id say 10 second times no problem.

14s with basic mods. if this is really true than thats great. so far i heard nothing but good things about these cars. and if i do decide to get nitrous, what a safe shot for me to run without the engine goin kaboom?

as scooby said he ran a 70 all day long for a year so id say thats a good starting point. 100 is getting up there but id bet the block could still handle it.

Mine runs 13's with intake, full exhaust, and a 55 shot along with a few other mods. Have had the nitrous on it for more than a year too with no problems. The best I've heard for a stock RS is 15.2.
