I actually got htis finish, due to a F**kup. I thought I would be smart and sand my final coat with 2000 grit wet n' dry, but it came up dull and scratched to buggery. So I thought I could polish the scratches out with tamiya compound. It still looked sh*t so I just washed the body (to remove the compound) and gave it another wetcoat and voila! Fluked it! So now I'm gonna paint all my models in this method.
1 mist coat, let it dry for 1min or so.
1 wet coat, let it dry for 2 days.
sand then compound.
wash.
Paint final wetcoat.
Hopefully it works. :uhoh:

Oh BS...you know you bought a kiwi bot and you and Warren just don't wanna let us know where we can get ours :cwm27: Just messin with you. That shine is unbelieveable though. I can get a shine, but it takes me a lot of work and it's still not that brilliant. That's just beautiful. GREAT work!

Abso-frickin-lutely awesome shine!
I'll be happy when I've mastered the technique to get a shine even half as good as that.

I give ya props because I know it's a bitch to get black glossy and smooth like that, I nearly got a shine that good on my `Cuda, but I didn't/don't use compound or sanding. The paint on mine was a little see through too, the white came up a little on the door lines etc, should of shook the can more :shakehead

Wow, thanks for all the great compliments guys.
Hopefully this is not a one hit wonder.
Answer time, yes I did use primer both tamiya grey and white.
The final coat paint was tamiya black in a rattle can.
As for clear coating, I would probably leave the car for a week or so, just to make sure the colour coat has fully cured.
Oh yeah Warren, I'm gonna be in you're town on Wednesday so you can come and pick up your Bot then ok :iceslolan
