Well, this is only what I assume they do. If there is a forum in need of a moderator, I believe that the existing mods and Igor name the people they think would be best for the position and then work their way down the list from there until they have the person. Im sure there are other ways a moderator is choosen, but that's the one I think might be the main one. Once again, I am only saying how I assume they may do it, so dont hold me to what I say.

Actually IL2DC is pretty much right. I did ask, but I'm guessing that I got to be the Yugo moderator because nobody else wanted to (or had much knowledge of Yugos), and the Yugo forums have history of post whoring (take look in there at how many of the older threads are locked!). Either that or Igor was just feeling like being a nice guy.
One things for sure though - don't bug the hell out of moderators to become one, that's a sure way not to become one.
If there's a need for one, they'll choose who they think is best for the "job."

2strokebloke has an extremely impressive reputation for knowing his stuff. In my opionion he deserves a title more becoming of his vehicular intellect.

but back on topic, me and a few other guys requested highflow5.0 to be our moderator. We didn't have one and it was widly felt that he was right for the job.

These guys are wrong. To become a mod you need to sign your soul over to AF, provide a vial of your own blood, swear an oath to Igor (known as The Great Cloaked One to mods), and provide a donation of Rice.
And thats before the initiation!

This is when someone gives you a rep point for either being knowledgable or stupid. For the system to work proplerly user groups have to be assigned to all members. This way if you are searching for a tech question and get multiple threads with different answers you can go with the answer of the poster with the best rep.
Thats how it might work.
