1989 Accord LXi: Changing Rack and Pinion

My accord LXi 1989 has a bad power steering. It leakes (more like squerts) PS fluid. I check the rack and pinion assembly and it is wet every where. I have found a rebuilt rack for $140 and want to replace the whole thing instead of changing boots or using sealant kit. Unofortunately this is my fist and do not have manufactuerers service manual. Can some one help me?

Thanks,

Michael Ladd

Could possibly be your ps pump. Auto Zone sells them for around $25-30, but are notorious for going out in less than a year. Pay for what you get. Napa, Carquest are better buys although more expensive. You might get lucky though. I've put them on once purchased from AutoZone, and last for years, when others tell me they tried themselves and put 2 or 3 pumps on. It's not that hard, very few tools, only a little patience. Good Luck.
