I have an 86 Cherokee Larado, I have had it almost a year and it is running 10 times better than when i had it, all that i have left to do is the a/c. The A/c blows air (not cold) out of the top vints but not anything out of the bottom or side vents. and fyi the heater works fine but living in Texas i only use it one month out of the year

I assume you are meaning on any position you are not getting air flow to the floor vents or defog vents. If thats what you are saying, pull the lower dash panel and then basically get your head and a bright light under the dash, as you probably have a vacuum operated door not opening to get your airflow distributed right, that is common on older cherokees. This is easily fixed-with the engine running to provide enough
vacuum, slowly move the a/c heat switch to all positions, on heat it should be coming out of the floor vents , if not check the vacuum canisters and lines too. This will probably be your problem, and also remove the radio and check the cables too etc. for any problems. A vacuum door is also located in the rh kick panel area too, check this
also make sure all wiring etc. is ok to the ac/heat control panel and
replace it if it is burned, get one from a salvage yard if needed as they are cheap and most likely to be ok.
