Earlier tonight I was in my friend's 3000gt(vr4) and we were going down a fairly popular road among street racers here, like 2 miles long, 4 lanes, hardly any turns, street lights. I used to go there a lot but the cops started watching that area more strictly so i stopped. Anyways, we were cruising 10 above the speed limit and he noticed 2 cars in his mirror gaining up fast. A 95 looking accord and a tiburon(sp?) with fart can exhausts and a cheap $30 wing on the accord fly by doing about 80. So my friend gets ready to downshift to thrid and show those people that they got nothing but cheap plastic and tin but i warn him that cops scout the road 24/7. After some convincing he decided not to. Couple of minutes later we see the cop lights go on in the distance and the 2 keep driving since there was an intersection coming up. The light turns yellow and as they try to speed past it 2 cop cars jump out from both sides and block the road and they skid to a stop. Since cops rely on their CB radios to communicate, I was wondering if there was any device out there you can put on your car than can scamble or interfere nearby radio frequencies and jam their communications. This could be very useful in out running the police.

Go ahead and get a CB-Radio jammer.
Cause they don't use CB-Radio's. They use VHF radios made by Motorola and now use Cell phones.
And yes you can probably get a Jammer for VHF, but it's going to be illegal. And secondly its going to be very expensive.
And lets not forget, running from Police is a stupid thing. Ever notice that in the police chases you see on TV the guy never gets away. Oh sure you're routing for him but it's not gonna happen. And even if you do end up jamming the radio some how... they can still follow you by car or by air.

:iagree: about trying to outrun the cops, but just think, not everyone gets caught. the tv stations arent gonna show the ones who got away. i have friends that have outrun the cops, and they sure as shit werent on tv. but i guess you could get a police scanner or something, that might help.

I know its not smart running from the cops, it's just sometimes when you have a chance its worth taking the risk, escpecially with a lot of cars racing and only a few cops. Most of the time we're in residential areas well covered by trees. Last time my friend got far enough from the cop, pulled into a driveway and turned off his lights and the cop drove by. As for the signal jammers, how much do they cost and whats its effect radius? It might actually be worth investing in one. Plus, they cant call in air support without communication...

I agree, people can and do get away. But they usually only get away when the 'chase' first starts. Once a cop has radio'd in for back up and a helicopter has arrived on scene... you're fucked.

ive run from the pigs b4. only when i was 100% sure i could get away.
took a right turn into my little area and there was a pig camped right there and i was going like 45 in a 35 and the cop put his lights on and took off kinda slow (was hella pine needles there so he couldnt have done anything but) so i dropped the gear and sped up then took a hard right and ducked into someones driveway, pulled behind some bushes and turned off my lights and the cop went screaming by and im like ha dumb oinker :D

don't forget that cops sometimes do let you go because it's unsafe to pursue.. Also, i've seen on TV where people do infact get away. But once the helicopter comes into play, it's pretty damn hard. Your not going to out run it.
If you do run the cops, you better hope they didn't get your license plate. It wouldn't be hard for them to go and search, find the owner and stop by your house. (but they probably couldn't care less).

I live less than 10 miles from the Pennsylvannia state line. When I'm bored a lot I've been tempted to drive really fast north and get a cop on my tail, cross the state line, get out of the car and point and laugh at the cop

Oh don't worry, you guys will be the first to know. Im thinking of doing it the day before i leave for college which is like in one year. Or, I could go to Penn and speed there and come back here and never go back there again...

Unless you do it RIGHT at almost the state boundaries, there should be a roadblock and/or a group of officers from the next state waiting for you at the border.
If you do it at the border, highway patrol will always radio ahead to the next state's patrol, and follow you till the next state's officers come to take over as lead. Even then, the previous state's officers can still offer back-up.
What? You think they haven't encountered moronic ideas such as yours before?

you should go some place where 4 states meet, not just 2....
I still wouldn't do it though.

i was under the impression cops could leave their jurisdiction in a pursuit if necessary, they just can't make the actual arrest. they have to stop you and call for someone to come get you. unless they wanna drive to another state to testify against you.

Yea right, did you know cops can cross the jurisdictional boundries even into another state while in pursuit of a vehicle. What if you idiots out there get into a high speed pursuit drive down the road and get into a car wreck or run over some little innocent kid and kill them. think about it long and hard before you make a big mistake in your life. you know vehicular homocide, hit and run, and murder all carry very high penalties. get a life, get a full time JOB and get out of your parents houses.
TAKE IT TO THE TRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok first
i cant remember that actual stats but basically for 2003 only a 3rd of car chases that the cops took part in ended with the offending vehicle getting cought this means that statistically you have a 2/3 chance of escaping from them.
Thats a pretty shitty record for the cops
Rules of running from the fuzz
1) If they get ur plate ur fucked so if they are close dont run
2) the longer they are in persuit the harder it will be to get away.
3) chopper = handcuffs
4) The police cant chace you in their paddywagons cause they are unstable at high speeds.
5) i may have speeds slightly wrong but at 120 they have to call HQ for permission to persue and at 160 they have to abandon the persuit, this is all in kph, they may choose not to disscontinue however if anything happens they can b held liable, for endangering the community
"thus endith the lession"
(this is all for Ausralia so probs differnt in states)

umm police in the US have camaros, crownvics, mustangs, and other sport tunned cars. They handle very well at high speeds. In the us though alot of cities are making it illegal for the cops to go on high speed pursuits cause most of the time the people they chase are just stupid people running for no reason, and like 40% of all high speed pursuits end in a crash in the US. Also more innocent people are killed each year because of high speed chases and criminals caught running in a car, and most the people running are running with mideminors.
Just wait, 5-10 more years and it will be impossible to run from the police, the new technology are deplying is amazing and will stop your car dead in its tracks.

The only running I have ever done is if I pass them speeding and I see them slowing down to turn around with thier lights on. I wish we had rule 5 in the states. They don't fuck around here. If you run, they will chase you no matter what. Unless of course like Jayson said about being in the city. They follow you from the air when that happens.

And I'll laugh after the FBI bags your ass. Because your right, once you cross state lines, its not the local police's jurisdiction, its the FBIs, so the cops will pick you up, and then the FBI gets you, and then your screwed.

I know 3 guys who got away on bikes.
Otherwise you're pretty much fucked.
I see cops do some stupid ass driving all the time just to get somewhere quickly. Passing me on a two lane bridge that you can't see 50 feet ahead at 70 mph is but one of many stories I could tell. I saw a video where a cop rammed a guy into a gas pump (on spike TV) the other day! Cops should be pulled over for the way they drive!!!
Basically if they're chasing a car, they do about anything to get it - safe or not. And since there'll be about 15 of them doing anything to get you, you'll be in the back seat shortly.
No credit given to the cops driving skills or their judgement, just their numbers.

some times on those shows, the cops do more damage then the person they are chasing, kinda funny.

I have had reason to consider running from the cops 3 times (the only three time where a cop saw me do something illegal on the road). The first time was when I was going about 190-200 kph on the upper levels highway. I passed a cop who was parked out of view on the shoulder, I looked in the rear view and saw him flip on his lights, I drove for maybe another 2 min and decided to pull over befoe I got in more trouble. The cops who was far out of sight caught up and ticketed me. He said I should have kept going because he never would have caught me :banghead:
The second time was basically the same situation, I just kept going and then pulled off and hid after a few exits. The third time I the cops busted a street race I was was watching but luckily I had parked my car in a place out of view and away from the other spectators, I just cruised away and kept to side roads.
So it is definetly a feasible option under the right conditions, but in most cases I think It is much better to just pull over.

1st off lets get back to the question. Instead of buying something to scramble their stuff why not just get a scaner and listen to what there saying. my little brother go one and when we race we use that and walky talky's. so don't try to downgrade there radio's just upgrade what you have. stay one step ahead with radar, walky talky's and a scaner so you can listen to them talk.
