Im really interesting in getting an MR2, but Im wondering why you dont see these cars so much at the drag races. They are great cars with great engines, but what the hell... anyways that car in my sig is totalled need new car. Just want to know what is wrong with MR2s that they are not so popular at the 1320.
thanks,
Leo

The reason you don't see them is because there are very few of them left.

mr2s are great cars, but not exactly the best for dragging. you see, not very many people know this, but yet people do know ignore it, cause its not that big of a problem. you see its mid engined, and the reason why they suck hahahahhahaha lol jk :evillol: i wouldnt own one if that was true :licka: they re great cars.

That's a joke - right? ...mid-engine not being good for drag racing?
lol..... yeah, all that traction is really bad for drag racing.

it's not traction that wins in dragging, it's power...all power...hell you don't even need wheels...they just slow you down :rofl:

So are MR2's really mid engine? I mean I know the engine is in the rear but it sits right in between the rear wheels. I thought mid engine was something like the porsche boxster where the engine sits in front of the rear axle. And what I think this other dude meant by no traction was since the engine is right between the rear wheels you cant exactly tub it out. Although you could put a wide body kit and put bigger tires but still thats not tubbed. Also it has a relativley short chassis and all the weight is in the rear, I cant picture the wheelies this thing would be making if it did have tracion. ahhh, anyways, Im not getting the MR2, with a totalled car and a wreckless driving ticket I dont see myself paying for insurance and having a normal life at the same time. :disappoin

MR2 = Mid-engine Rear-wheel-Drive 2-seater
I cant picture the wheelies this thing would be making if it did have tracion.
MR2's do wheelies.
There are seveal in the US and Canada.
There is a video on extremeboost.com.

Yeah, Ive heard that before but the Hyundai Accent GT GT= Grand Touring, then you think Hyundai+GT= :eek7: So I was just asking, I figured a mid engine car should at least be close to a 50/50 weight distribution.

I figured a mid engine car should at least be close to a 50/50 weight distribution.
44/56 is the 2nd gen MR2's distribution.
Regardless, I think that is ahighly overated number to follow.... as soon as you load the suspension (turning, braking accelerating) the weight bias of the car changes dramatically front-to-back and side-to-side.

Less on a mid engine since the polar weight is much less than other cars with near 50/50 weight distribution such as a front engine rwd, but I do agree people put too much stock into numbers rather than feel and whether those numbers matter much...especially for street use which is where most MR2s or any car will end of 99% of the time.
