What kind of cheap mods can be done to a 1979 Pontiac Firebird with a 301 engine in it? Im putting in a new cam right now. Anything else???

i got the same motor in my car right now there is nothing out there for 301's exept cams that is just about it
im upgrading to a 400 where there are alot of parts made for it
the only other mod you can do to the 301 is put nos through it but thats not to good of a choice to do to a stock 301

What type of power can a 301 make with "upgrades"??? like intakes and such, or is it a better idea to get a 350?

ok a 301's base power was 150hp with cam and lifters you might get to 180 or so that is all you can do there are no intakes or anything for 301's, but hooker dose make headers for the 301 but they are super comp so if u get those your lookin at $330 american
as far as 350's go there are some parts for them but not alot where there are alot of parts for is 389-455 so if u get an engine in that range you can upgrade everything and you could make around 450hp without nos if you wanted to spend that kind of cash
and your lucky because the cam u bought for the 301 isnt a waste because it can fit in the other engines
