i was sitting in the kitchen at my house and my dog, a good size husky, was sleeping by the front door, when i would say maybe a 10 year old kid selling candy bars waled up the driveway and stopped by the sidewalk and my dog started growling and barking, the kid stopped and started crying right there, then ran away with his box of candy bars, to bad he didnt leave the box of candy bars. it would have been cool. thought it was funny so i thought i would share.

:lol2: Man my dog does things like that a lot, I'm surprised he hasn't be labeled a kid-eater even when I'm walking him they stray outta the way, but I'd say the funniest thing that he ever did was when he was a puppy and had his " I'm Gonna HUMP Anything That Moves" stage and a kid was selling calendars or something like that for Scouts and my dog got out of the house and started making it with that poor bastards leg and he started to cry :crying:. And I still never bought a calendar from him either.:iceslolan

You need to go back and edit your post. It appears, via your post, that you got some kind of humour from the young kid crying and running away.

well i guess i do then, you dont see humor in the same way i see it so whatever, it was funny for you bt it was funny for me so i dont care.

You would have found it better if he'd abandoned his candy and ended up having to pay for the lot out of his own pocket? What an asshole.Think on this. Not all dogs are friendly. It only takes one to give a kid a good nip,or jump up unexpectedly and knock him over, and he's likely to be wary of all dogs for a long time.A large husky, barking and growling,is not a friendly animal in the eyes of a small child. If you can't keep your dog under control,at least accept that people don't find it at all amusing when you come in here bragging about it.

I thought it was funny

was the dog on a leash or in an cage? If it wasn't, i could understand why he got scared and ran away.

Well, I did ask him to explain it, and it is relivent. Had the dog been outside, and unleashed, the kid would have had a better reason to be scared. However the dog was inside, and could not harm the kid. I find the fact that he still got scared and ran away, even though the dog could not harm him, is amusing. Of course, one can never tell why kids do the things they do.

Perhaps he was mauled by a dog prior to this incedent?
I remember a little kid who had a dog bite his face and had to go to the hospital for stitches - after that even a chihuahua would have him running for cover.

So, I guess if something bad or embarrasing happens to you, you won't mind if people laugh their ass off as they humilate you? What a sick sense of humor is right! Do you have kids of your own, or are you a kid yourself?

Being the fence sitter of a Canadian I am, I can see both sides.

It was probably entertaing to watch him run away crying, assuming he hadn't been traumatized prior to that. But at the tsame time 1/100 inch thick screening won't stop a Husky (Momentum = mass x velocity) so if I was some young kid and saw a Husky bolt to the door barking, I would probably cry too.

I don't think its funny either when I was younger I was walking by a house with a so called "friendly dog" in its yard. It ran out for no reason and bit me in the calf I got 5 stitces b/c of that.

I feel sorry for the lil kid...tryin to sell some candy bars and gettin scared off by someones dog :(

Definitely not funny- Surely you remember how confusing life was when you were a kid- he was probably a reasonable kid too- find the kid and buy a candy bar for the price of two just for being sadistic.

I used to own a Husky as well. She was a real people person EXCEPT for Jehovah Witnesses. She'd growl and get her hackles up every time they'd try and come up the driveway. I guess she could sense that I really hated those guys and was voicing my opinion for me.

I have no problem with a dog that barks or growls when a stranger comes to the door. Heck, that’s a reason people get them. As long as the dog is under control – the more nasty the snarling sounds, the better.

I don’t think the story was funny but I might have thought differently if I saw it myself.

Theres a case like this going on in Fort Wayne... A husky was chained up in his yard and a little boy (maybe 3-4) came in the dogs yard and the dog attacked him. The boy needed like 1500-2000 stitches. So now they are arguing if they should put the dog to sleep or not.

Be careful, you dont want you dog put to sleep. :)

you all took this the wrong way, maybe it would have been scary if i was the kid, but the fact is my dog was sleeping then opened her eyes and started barking, she didnt stand up or bolt towards the door as you might think, she was 5 ft from the door laying down, the fact is it was funny to me and i dont care what you think

What a sick person to be happy to make fun of a young kid trying hard to do something for himself, and to gloat about it too :nono: .

Having said that I now realize that I am a horrible horrible person for laughing at the fear and ignorance of another, less developed soul.

Geez, No one said "Thats to funny!! HAHAHA What a little fucker of a kid, it would have been funnier if the dog had lept through the window and mauled the kid to death in the drive way and brought the candy back toyou"

Now that wouldn't have been funny...

that is pretty funny. its not the dog's fault, its not even his fault. the kid should have learned his lesson.

well i hope that the kid ran home crying.
what the hell kind of a parent would allow a small child in this day and age to go door to door all alone.

Blame the parents. :shakehead Always blame the parents. :shakehead

If anything bad happens to a kid, let's just blame the parents, saves us taking a community resposibility for those who will be caring for us when we are too old to care for ourselves.

There's one question that I'd like to ask though,in this day and age what kind of organisation allows its funding to be gathered from young kids selling candy door-to-door,unsupervised,and at the mercy of strangers? Is any charity or social group that important that it worth asking children to risk their necks to provide the money?

When my kids need money for their sports clubs, school trips etc,it come straight out of my pocket.'Fundraising' is just a polite term for begging.Do we really need beggars on the streets for these causes,or have we simply forgotten how to pay our own way?

No I say! Let the dogs chase them down!!! That way if they survive they must have some sort of natual gift for running, and can support themselves by using this ability in the sports world!
