Need Air Conditioning Help

I've got a 91 Legacy. Here's the sequence of events:
1. Bought the car, compressor made a ton of racket when i turned on the AC, so i got a used compressor.
2. Installed the compressor, added oil, then refrigerant. AC compressor clutch engaged and cold air started working. Let the motor and AC run for 15 minutes. Cold air continued, so i cut the car off.
3. A few hours later, turned the car on, AC compressor turned on, but no cold air? Added more refrigerant, didnt help, i put too much in, so it started cycling. Removed enough refrigerant so it wouldnt cycle, but it wouldnt make cold air. Sight glass is so bubbly its foamy.
Any ideas?
