Hi all, I'm going to look at a 88 civic, not sure if its called a two door hatchback or wagon,,,but am courious as to what I should look for, I have only seen the car while driving and noticed that it was for sale and wrote down the number...it looks like travis_118 (on members rides), the only civic that I have owned was a 76 model (many moons ago) and it was an industructable machine , what is a good price to offer, engine, mileage, mods, etc. to look for....thanks,,,,

I would have to say that it depends on what you're looking for. If you just want a shell to put a new motor in, then I would say forget about mileage and look at the shape the body and interior are in, and see if you can pick it up for just a few hundred. If you just want to keep the car stock, just look for the general stuff. Civics are prone to rust around the fender lips, but tend to hold up great otherwise. I picked up my last hatchback for 900 running, with about 115K miles on it. Take some pics of it and post it up, and we can give you some input on it. Also, the trim level might make a difference in what the car is worth. If it is an Si, it will have better seats and interior options, sunroof, etc. A DX is much more basic and less valuable. Find out what the details are, and post them up here, I'll try to give you an idea of what it's worth, at least around here...

to give you an idea, i paid 5000 for my crx, perfect body, no rust, nothing, only 50k on it.

hondas have a very strong re-sale value, so take that into consideration. but if you can get the details about the car first, we can give you an idea of what it could be worth.
