amp hook up

ok i am about to hook up an amp in my car. ok small problem. im not sure if your guys are like this but mine allready has a 2 port plug cus one goes directly to the engine and another out to the fuse box. what have you guys done about this. and also whats teh best way to get the power line through the firewall?
