Tailgate locking mechanism problems

Does anyone know how to adjust the tailgate locking mechanism on a 92 s10 blazer?
when mine is shut, glass locked and tailgate shut, you are not supposed to be able to turn the lock to the right (gate position) - but I can.
I have a shop manual but its rather vague on this point. It says to synchronize the lock rods to the center latch levers- but it doesn't say how.
ANY HELP?? I can't lock my car... :iceslolan :biggrin:
