Right now, take 10 minutes to go outside, pop your hood, take off your distributor cap and tighten your rotor screw as tight as possible! Mine came unscrewed lastnight and left me stranded again. This is ther 3rd distributor ive been through, now im on number 4. To anyone whos new here or doesnt know, our distributors are notorius for self destruction. The screw that holds the rotor on comes loose and falls off tearing up the coil. So go tighten the bitch!

Maybe I'm just lucky... I had the same thing happen about two weeks ago, but I was only a block from home. All I did was take the cap off & throw a different (slightly bigger) screw in there when I got the car home.
That's the only time the screw has come completely out, but it has worked itself loose enough to the point that the car wouldn't start. I'm not sure how the screw would tear up the coil since the rotor wouldn't spin without it... But like I said, maybe I'm just lucky...
Last weekend I put a new cap & rotor on the car. The only reason I mention this is because the rotor came with a cool (different) screw. It had a hex (allen) head and a lock washer in addition to a regular washer. I'd never seen them come that way before, and I'm curious to see if the lock washer helps keep it from coming loose again....

had the same thing happen to me in my 90 Integra. It never happened to me before that. I was cruzin on the HWY doing about 70, the bitch broke off, there were sparks flying out the back of the car, bucking, spiting, crazy shit. I thought it was all over for the motor. Left me stranded too. Sucks!

dude when i first got my dx that shit happened to me ALL THE TIME couldnt stand it and it caused me b/s problems until i got a whole new dizzy, eventually the screw broke inside the hole :screwy:

Would this screw thing possibly be the reason a car is hesitant to start or when loose it just won't start?

:werd: new rotors come with screw and thread locker applied. DO NOT overtighten the screw like 91civichatch2571 said to do - new screw or thread lock on the old.
