Sorry Tonioseven really pissed me off today so im going to bitch to make myself feel better (sorry if this is too personal T). I love Imports but what is the point of these movies? Ive heard there plotless, rice crap. i could put NOS in a Gremlin but does it make it a "race" car. NO. So why does everybody love this crap. Get SpeedTV and watch some real racing. Johnny Ass or JR Dick or what ever there names are could'nt hold a handle to the likes of McRae, Schumacher, Gorden, you name it. And the cars ive seen from the movies are ugly as hell with the cheesy graphics and crap. It looks like a Pep Boys disaster. So what is so great about this stuff, really, i want to know!!!!

P.S. Tonio, whats the beef? people like Chris McGee (no offense Chris just making a point) are always making entire threads about personal stuff in there life but you kiss there ass so WTF kid?

P.S.S. been drinking, sorry but not happy cus i post alot of informative and helpful stuff on this forum but get slammed for adding a sentence about my life. You could of PMed me just like this could of been a PM. good Moderating "dude".

"I do have one small tidbit of Tamiya knowledge. they are opening an official U.S. Tamiya retail store next to there headquarters in California. They will sell all there models, supplies, and also so carry all other after-market stuff made for there kits. and hopefully this will be a trend and other stores will open in other major cities in the USA. for now i guess ill have to fly to CA to check it out. but i hope this means the American market is getting bigger so we might start seeing more kits here from Asian manufacturers!!! cross your fingers. though i will be moving to England in a year or so to finish Racing School..."

Chris i am very sorry but this is how it started, i replied this post about what Tamiya was up to and Tonio gave me this reply...

"I don't mean to be an asshole but you talk too much about personal things we couldn't care less about. Your personal goals and future plans belong in the COT forum".

again im sorry but this is rude and it could have been a PM.

Without trying to make anybody angry, I must say that I at least agree with that argument. I can't understand how anyone can like these "cars". But like they say, "des goûts et des couleurs ne se discutent pas" or translated : "tastes and colors are beyond any discussion"...

The only thing I don't like about the film and the whole car mod market in general is it fills the roads with idiots in old under-powered cars that think they can do 0-60 in 3sec just because they have a cheap GT-wing look - a - like on the back of their "heap" and a bean can bolted to the old zorst system.
You can hear them coming from miles away because of the cheap sound system that creates a noise like cats fighting in a coke can factory!
Check out these... Need I say more! (http://www.topgear.com/content/fun_stuff/carbage/01/04/)

Don't get me wrong there's some amazing modded cars out there. But if I get one more pratt in a saxo trying to race me at the lights when I'm in my Mazda I'm going to just give up going out on the roads altogether!! :banghead:

i can agree with that, the amount of dumb ass people you meet on the road with a 1.1 litre engine and a huge exhaust and a blitz sticker on a non jap car, it makes me laugh. im also fed up with people trying to race my lexus, i just put the tinted window down, laugh at them for trying and say bye bye as i beat thier ass, lol.
why spend £30,000 on a saxo! when you could spend £10,000 on a rx7 and have performance beyond whatever that saxo could do.

i agree with what you said about antonios post, it does seem very harsh, i wish you all your luck with the racing school, where abouts is it?

also with regards to the cars being tasteless crap, well i kinda like them, they are individual pieces of "art in motion" in my mind. showing peoples personalities. personaly i love my all black lexus with black windows but thats just my style. cars are personal taste, paint is personal taste, if we were all the same life would be damn boring in my opinion.
Please no more insults on "ricer" cars coz it hurts a lot of people who drive and build them.

just my 2 cents

Chris, i will be going to either Myerscough College, Oxford-Brookes, Warwickshire, or Swansea. Ive been excepted to all of these schools Motorsport divisions but have yet to make a final decision. But my Girlfriend will be attending Cardiff University and i plan on attending a school within 2 hours of Cardiff. I will be getting my level 3 degree in Chassis/ Aerodynamics Design and hope to get a job with Pinninfarina or Seat but any manufacturer that isnt American will be fine. Im not good at all with English geography though so im not sure were what is what with out a map :shakehead :screwy: President Bush Jr. has finally pushed me out of this country. may USA burn in hell. Or i mean... long live King Bush... oh and i have a BA in CAD Design but USA has very few motorsport schools which is why im going to the UK.

hey, that sounds interesting dude. I really want to try some of the motorsport, sorry but I am going to say personal stuff now......last time BMW was trying to get some of the young drivers from Asia and trained them in the junior BMW formula. However, I am too old for them, damnit, when I was at the age which is qualified, there is no internet or I was a computer idiot......I really love car driving and racing, I even got my driving license in first attempt without going to driving school. (don't shoot me, but maybe many ppl here get the license without going to driving school)......so freakmech or chris or others, could you suggest me something that I could do to the car racing career? I am 26 yrs old......

Thanks man!

yeah i guess your right but i think this was uncalled for... ive been very helpful in this forum and have never responded "read the FAQ newbie" nor did i ever ask a question that got the response "read the FAQ". I ve answered the same question multiple times to different people.. in short ive only helped and ive only bitched about one thing and that is the lack of originality in the "tuner" type models. this reply was unwarranted and ive all ready been the bigger man 4 times on this forum and deleted my posts that were uncalled for but this time it was a Moderator and off-base. i cant agree with that but im done. no more PMSing from me its over. sorry again to all.

I also never bothered with seeing the movie, it was a shame to see a Skyline donning APC stickers when I saw the spyshots before the movie came out... Sure it's just a movie, but it's a movie that has encouraged riceboys and wannabe street racers such as one who recently hit me with their rearview mirror and crive off while trying to show off on a Civic travelling in the opposite direction...and people say dumb movies don't directly affect idiotic people, MY ASS it dosen't.. I have the rearview mirror shaped bruise on my ass to prove it, lol. Between that and having idiots quote Johnny Tran(asian dude from the 1st FnF) line to hit me up for a race, the whole FNF/2F2F thing has gotten way out of hand, I say shit on Craig Paisley!!!!!

Im 29 actually and there are things you can do to enter the Motorsport world but i think one of the best programs is Mazda Rotory Rockets. If you can save the cash they will put you in a car and you will compete with other cars of the same spec.. it comes down to the driving. TRD (Toyota Racing Division) is good as well. as far as Mechanical schools go look into it... its never to late to start! and they are everywhere!

The movie is made with a specific target audience in mind: the mainstream public with no specialised knowledge in racing/street racing and tuned cars. It isn't really meant to target the hardcore racing fans because if they include all those 'real' racing stuff, the mainstream will not understand the movie and will not like it. Let's face the fact, afterall they are trying to make a profit from the movie (they need to earn a living too...) and the fact is that the money comes from the mainstream public. I think real hardcore racing fans will not be satisfied by anything other than real racing stuff.

But it is not to say who is wrong or right. Racing fans will know some of the stuff are impossible in real life but this show is not meant to be a simulation movie. It's meant as entertainment and purely entertainment only. So even racing fans can sit down, relax and be entertained even though some of the stuff are ridiculous. The exageration is meant for dramatic effect.

Everyone has their own opinion and there is no right or wrong answer. I myself find it rather entertaining although I do watch real racing stuff (not a total hardcore racing fan that know everything about racing though). (p/s: the cars and their design / paintwork in FnF are quite artistic and creative IMO) Sorry for the long post, just voicing out my opinion.

I haven't really cared to see these movies either. I've seen them, only because someone got it off Kazaa and passed me a copy. Pay money for it? Never.

I particular don't care for some of the styling, but certain cars are okay. But all that is a matter of personal taste, an extension of the driver's personality, as said previously. I don't care much for low-riders and such, but it's nice to see some of their stuff. Some of it is innovative at least. To each his own.

The movie has had a bad influence in my opinion. Monkey see, monkey do. The teenagers that have their new license, have to be cool, peer pressure, fitting in and what not. Yes, they're dumb, but I try not to be too hard on them. For the older guys, we were young once, and I'm sure you guys did some dumb stuff at that age. I know I did.

Teenage dumbness aside, what I really don't appreciate is the street racing aspect. That is just plain dumb, no excuses. I wish I still had the link, but a few years back a street racing story was on msnbc about two guys racing at night. The road was clear, except for a lone car that was driving slowly looking at the Christmas lights up on the houses. One of the racers didn't see the car, slammed into it, killing both the driver and the passenger of the other car. Turns out it was the racer's mom and aunt. How important is proving the fastness of your car?

Oh, and driving fast in a straight line, what does that prove? They can train a chimp to drive in a straight line.

As for personal stories in threads, I enjoy them. Makes the place feel a little more cozy. Freakmech, what you're doing sounds cool. I'd like to hear more.

Apologies for the long post. Lots to say.

Alot of things have piqued my interest in this thread.

First-- It's just a movie. I've seen the first one, and in fact, own it. I love imports, and tuning them, so how could I resist a movie all about the things I like? I mean it features an S2000, RX-7 and a Supra predominantly. Those are about as legendary as you can get to me. That said, from the first moment I saw that movie I thought the cars looked awful. I personally don't like the flashy graphics and all that business. Just a wast of your hard earned cash. And I don't particularly like how they glorify street racing. Cars and racing them is possibly one of the most dangerous passtimes ever. It should be done in a controlled environment, and there are tons of legal outlets. I'm sure that's all been said before though.

Second, if I see another @#$^^#@#@! car with an APC sticker on it I am going to burn the world down. Promise. People put that crap on anything.... there's a BMW that lives on campus with a huge windsheild decal emblazened across the top. It live right next to a bone stock Eclipse with more sticers than paint (ie factory rims and an Enkei sticker). APC.... ARGH!!! I don't hate much, but I hate them.

To get involved in motorsports... well, I've been hunting an outlet too. What I've done is join the SCCA and started autocrossing, so I can learn how to conduct my car so when I can finally afford it, the leap to Club Racing won't be so hard. And from there.... I plan on being awesome so some race team will see me and pick me up....

Yeah. So THERE!

It's a movie dude. For entertainment value only!!! It's not a documentary on tuning import cars. Anybody that thought that it was shouldn't be under the hood of their car tinkering with anything. The people that were targeted as patrons to that movie went to be entertained. Not to learn everything about tuning cars to build them!

They are gaudy and ugly for a reason. To get you to notice them. And TALK about them. Make others curious about what your talking about so they'll go throw down their $8 for a seat, or $20 for the DVD!

Thats the beauty of the freedom of the USA. My country, that you bashed! You've never been forced to watch the movie if you chose not to. You've especially not been forced to stay here within our borders. The president and citizens would love to see you leave if you're not happy here. There are many people that would give up all they had to come here and embrace the opportunities this country provides. Not exploit it for education and handouts.

I enjoy it but hate to said few point that this movie also show those crap things. Like... can believe the Evo7 can reverse as fast as the forward gear? The worst part is Evo7 can outrun a muscle car...bullshit!

Good point is most of the car body kits and creative design were done by japanese major company, but don't think the engine was by them too...

ah, come on, why is everybody always bashing this movie?

Sure, it isn't a classic movie, but it's a movie, it doesn't have to be realistic , it's made to watch and enjoy and is a fine excuse to get yourself stuffed with huge quantities of pop corn!

As for the ricing , ah, well, it's what the film is about, if ou really can't stand it, go away and rent another movie, it's really that simple.

Let me summarise, for all you drunk (and-or) stupid people out there;

Like japanese cars, like action movies, like racing :uhoh: chicks... you 'll like it
None of the above; quit moaning, and STFU.

Ps, pretty lame post... I feel pity man...
and as for leaving the us, pff, I don't think you 'll be missed.

I have Bullitt on DVD got it about 1 year ago in a sale.
As for TFTF and TFATF, I love them, OK it's a bit over done in places and a bit ham acted, but it's only a film and for entertainment value it's great.
Better than all those romantic sloppy films.
As for the Riceboy think it's better they spend time and money working on there cars than out stealing doing drug etc. I wish I had their dedication.
