It says it has close up mode. It should be fine.
Macro mode is another name for close up mode.

With a 10-60cm Macro mode it should be fine for what you'll need. But just remember, when you take photos up close, not to get the camera closer than 10cm to the object :p

The only thing that bugs me is the "White balance automatic" feature. If you can't adjust the white balance manually you'll have some dark crappy pictures indoors. You can use the flash, but we all know how "unnatural" that looks and the colors never look right. Using the flash removes the depth and makes a subject look 2-dimensional.
My camera does manual/auto but if I leave it on auto my pictures of models indoors come out dark. I then need to edit it in Photoshop just to get it bright enough to post. Once I discovered the manual white-balance adjustment (decided to read the manual 3 years later) my indoor night-time shots became amazingly clear. I can adjust for overcast, tungsten light, flourescent light, direct sun, and auto.
If the price is right, I'd say go for it.

Here's a resource I've been using...

Goto "Dave's picks", then "macro"
Simply tons of information on digital cams.

That's not close up, that's just the zoom function i.e. how far away it can take pictures. Optical zoom is the basic zoom function which uses the camera's lens. The digital zoom is a pixel zooming feature, the same thing as taking a picture at the highest resolution then using photoshop to crop out the edges to give you a "bigger" view of the center, except the camera does it for you. Digital zoom requires a steady hand (tripod) and is hardly useful for anything unless you're desperate to get every last bit of zoom out of it.

Plus digital zoom makes the image look pixelated. As soon as I got my camera I turned the digital zoom off and I've never looked back.

I recently was looking for a digi-cam and was looking at the kodak ones as they seemed good value for money (I figure the less I spend on toys like this the more I have for necesseities i.e models, glue, paints and that sort of stuff!!) i visited many shops selling these cams and in each shop (curry, comet, pc world, jessops and even tokarski's) they all said don't bother with the kodaks cause they are crap!! I ended up buying a Konica KD 310z and it has great ratings in all the magazines and Which Digital camera gives it a Highly recommended 4and a half stars!!
If you click on 'My Homepage' below the MAzda RX-7 was photo'd using this cam!

The most important thing to remember when taking photos of something small (models for example) is plenty of light. Daylight is good, but if you want to take some photos of your models at night, use a desk lamp, or something similar that you can hold in one hand while you hold the camera in the other. Just expirement, that's why digital cameras are so good. You can try things, and instantly see how it turned out.

I just purchased a used Toshiba M-25 on ebay for $99 including shipping and 64MB memory card. I think it's a good deal especially with 64MB memory.
Pros:
It does have macro. Since this is my first digital cam I'm very satisfied with it. In daylight, everything looks good. I read some opinions on this camera and they all say macro quality is very good. With good lighting model pictures come out "OK" to "very good".
Cons:
It eats up battery quickly so you'll need rechargeable NI-MH batteries. Indoor pictures come out "not good" to "OK". I'm sure other cameras take better pictures but for what I've paid I'm very satisfied.
Read opions on cameras here. M-25 in particular didn't have good rating but many ppl agreed that it's a good camera considering camera.
If I were to buy a new camera after this I probably won't buy a Toshiba. I think other brands are probably better.

corrections: a good camera considering its retail price.
And opinions can be found here: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/read_opinions.asp?prodkey=toshiba_pdrm25
I cannot really recommend this to anyone. It's got some flaws but ok for a beginner like me for $99 with 64MB memory.

< ~~Yeah, camera's are shit without me. (Damn smilies wont work)
But if you want a good camera, go for a 3MP at least, that way you can take pretty high resolution shots, and resize them and they would look amazing, not to mention they aren't all that expensive...

Just a few things I've learned with my camera:
- I have a Canon A70 and think it's pretty good. The 3MP is really nice when you want to 'crop' a picture down and zoom in on a particular item.
- the macro is quite good, and although I haven't used it much yet, my test shots proved that it can get really close without any problems.
- lighting is the key (which you've probably heard a thousand times).
Now, I just need to get my bench unpacked from my move so I can put it to some good use!!

I took some pics of my models. I must say a few things about these pictures:
- I got this camera about three days ago and haven't read the manual.
- The lighting was pretty bad
- My hand was shaky cuz I had to hold my cam high enough to take pictures from models on my bookshelf
- I had to crop/resize bunch of times to be able to upload them(100KB limit). No enhancing done to original though.
- Used macro mode without flash. No zoom.
- Once again, lighting was poor.

In my opinion, if you're using mainly to post pics on forums or websites then you won't be uploading 1800x1200 pics anyways. I've seen 3megapixel shots and they are noticebly better. Again, for more money.

I fell asleep reading the manual last night but there's ton of features that you would not find in this price range(i don't know the retail price of this Toshiba).
For example, you can adjust white background, exposure, etc depending on your lighting I guess. I have to read it more but sounds like I need to learn all those features before I can judge this camera.
