What up guys and girls,
I have heard that all greddy exhausts rust easily. Does anyone know if this is true and if it is what can I do? Thanks

The Greddy Muffler is made out of Stainless steel, so it shouldn't rust. The piping is made out of "Aluminuzed Steel" which is coated to help prevent rust from occuring. I would assume that there is something on the market for rust proof coating!

My MX on my '96 is spotless. I would say custom untreated would rust far easier.

You can get exhuast coatings done at local places, here in Phoenix there is HPC i think. Swain, and other places like that could add coating to prevent rust as well, but it may be overkill. I'd check somewhere like J.C. Whitney or Eastwood, I'm sure they'd have some cheaper "do it yourself" coatings.

I'm buying a used Greddy for my car, and I'm thinking about getting it coated, as it's kinda scraped up a little bit... but i was also thinking about painting the can black, so it doesn't stand out quite as much. Anyone have a picture of their P10 with the Greddy on it? Like a rear, and side shot? Thanks!

Right.

Yes, they do rust. Not as badly as they used to.

I remember reading on the SE-R.net page a long time ago that Greddy exhausts rust easily. I think this must be way outdated info. (It appears to be posted about 5 years ago! :p)

Anyhow... I have the Greddy EVO and its looking great. Granted I've only had it since May though.

However there is a P10 owner in my town who has owned the Greddy for over 2 years, with no rusting. The car is not garage kept and we do get a varied scope of weather: heavy snow, ice, heavy rain, 100 degree heat etc...

I can only assume that somewhere along the line Greddy (Trust) saw the rusting problems and made some changes.

Or... you could jsut move to Az. It's so warm and dry here, we never really get any rain, or cold enough to warrant salt or cinder on the streets so nothing ever rusts :D There are cars still driving around that should have been completely eaten by rust years ago! :hehe:

Yea Arizona is great and all, but there's nothing like drifting around the ice covered Ski lots on Mount Hood in my friends WRX.

Mt Hood, OR!!! lucky bastard! I've always wanted to go there during the summer to hit the snow!

Wednesday the 12th I'll be at Whistler BC until the 17th though!!! ...what a dream come true! For once I'll really get to go snowboarding, not 'iceboaring' like we have in NJ/NY :D

My P10 came from up North. It has rust, good amounts of it, too. The Greddy exhaust piping has a rust haze over most of it, and at the welds it's straight up rusting and flaking good. I know it won't last forever but for now it's fine and doesn't leak. I really like the exhaust note (not too loud) so if the piping fails I'll just get the local muffler shop (who has a mandrel machine) to make some more and reuse the muffler.

Hell, my Stillen header is even rusting, through the coating even.

I heard Stillen parts are notorious for rusting.

Damn "jayntguru" your G probably came from a state that uses a lot of road salt. It sounds more like your problems come from regional than the manufacturer. My old Stillen header (ceramic coated gen. 1) went 3 years with zero problems.
