F150 Harley VS Me?!!

Ok here's the deal.
A guy i know just got himself a new Harley Davidson F150. You know, supercharged 5.4L V8 from the Lightning stuffed in a crew cab body with 18" rims and 2 tone paint?
In any case, the guy thinks his truck is really something else, which i don't blame him for as it's a damn nice truck, but he's gotten a little full of himself after out running a turbocharged sunbird and stomping a stock CRX rust-bucket (Lord only know why he thinks he's so great after that!).
I'm debating about whether or not i should call him out. For starters he has no idea i've 'lightly tuned' the Bonneville, and second i haven't mentioned a word of this idea to him as i don't want to call him out, then put my motor where my mouth is, and end up having to swallow 3800 some odd cc's if you know what i mean!
The reason i'm posting this is because i don't know much about the Harley truck other then it's somewhat over-rated and makes a great status symbol to own one.
What's the call my fellow street racers? Shall i take him to town or let him bask in his 'glory' until the novelty of his new truck wears off?

ok, going by your post, and your signature, i'll assume that you can beat mustangs with ease.
keeping in mind that size of the truck and it's power to weight ratio, you should win easily.
the wheel/tire combo will slow him down, the extra 2 doors will really slow him down, and he'd be lucky to run low 15's, or maaaaaybe high 14's. if you can take a mustang, you can take this guy.

Yeah, those HD trucks arent nearly as quick as they're hyped up to be... To heavy, and just not tuned for racing....
You should smoke him, but I'd let him win a couple races, that way when you beat him, it'll hurt so much more :grinyes:

I have a friend with one, not bad trucks would rather have a lightning though for that kind of money. I have driven it a couple times, once its rolling it has pretty impressive acceleration for such a big truck, but, it cant touch my car though. But, if your really running in the low 13s you will not have a problem with it.

If you really are running 13.4's and he's stock you'll definately take him. Best run I've seen on a stock Harley is 14.2. Generally running from 14.2 to 14.7's. Not bad for a 5400 lb truck on street 20's. I pulled 322 rwhp on the dyno stock. I've put in about $400.00 in mods and I'm at 400 to the wheels. Don't underestimate these things. There are guys running 12 and 13's easily with the right mods. The truck is very mod friendly and when tuned correctly can and will rip you a new asshole. I personally haven't been to the track yet but I should be in the mid 13's. Now if you were lining up with a Lightning that's a different story. Stock I've seen them run 13.2-13.4's.
p.s. I'll be at the track soon and I'll post numbers. Can't wait for a built block and Kenne Bell blower (19 psi) see ya!!

Hey,
Thanks for the input! Just to clarify, i haven't actually a 1/4 mile test in the car yet, i'm just figuring based on the way it performs 0-60mph and how it runs when i put my foot into it on the freeway.
SWEETWHITE that's the best idea i've heard yet! :grinyes:
Definitely worth consideration, thankyou!
REDNECK what's with the chuckles??
DBARTSO i'm glad to be back...only back once in a while though. I like to keep in touch with the 'peeps from the hood' so i won't be gone forever!! When i'm silent, it just means there's more mods coming and more great stories to tell!

REDNECK what's with the chuckles??
Well, I'll bring up the point again that...
A Stock '94 Bonneville SSEi
Horsepower: 225
Torque: 275
0-60: 8.1
1/4: 16.1
Weight: 3691lbs
Drive Type: Front Wheel Drive
'99 Camaro SS
Horsepower: 320
Torque: 335
0-60: 5.1
1/4: 13.5
Weight: 3306lbs
Drive Type: Rear Wheel Drive
You're telling me... that your car can out perform that of a Camaro SS which is very performance biased as opposed to your family sedan.
Lets also take into account that your a FWD vehicle. Launching should be a very big problem for you. Seeing as weight transfers to the rear of the car during a launch.
Your claim on power is pretty impressive I must admit. But adding in a 18% factor of drivetrain loss that puts you at 350ish Horsepower at the crank. That's a 125hp over stock. Like I said very impressive, but a LS1 Camaro SS usually dyno's with about 300rwhp. And it's pulling similar times to what you claim, it's also got traction problems which it has to deal with. Also it's lighter and RWD. Not sure if you're catching my point... its a Lighter, More Powerful, Faster car better suited to racing... but you seem to be able hang with it with about the same power but none of the other traits... except maybe traction problems.
You could very well pull these times off, I just need more proof than a estimation of your E.T. and your 0-60. I think its time you get to the track and prove me wrong. I'm a big fan of the Bonneville but I just don't see it happening.
I'd also like to know what you mean by recalibrating the Supercharger and Transmission for the 'mods' you have. Not sure what that means... :dunno:
Sorry, For bringing this up again for a second time. You may remember when i brought this up before a while back... But I just find this topic Odd.
Happy Trails...

Redneck,
There's only so much one can do given my knowledge and the fact that these are simply postings. The only REAL way to show you how it all works out is for you to actually see it for yourself. The 1/4 mile i do admit i have yet to determine to the actual time. But for the 0-60, i've trialed that on several different occasions with the help of a stop watch, a nearly empty gas tank, a good dry road, a new set of tires, and a few friends to make sure everything runs smoothly.
The only variant in my 0-60 time is the possibility of human error, which has been basically ruled out based on the consistency of the numbers that came up when i was trying to determine it (sorry, that's kinda redundant i know!). All i can say is that someday my friend, i'll make the drive to where you are, and introduce you to my Bonne.
My point in all this, is that the 0-60 time is accurate, the 1/4 mile part isn't. I'm just doing my own math for the 1/4 mile time. Does it make sense? Not really. On paper does it work? It does in my eyes ...and launching it hasn't been much of a problem, it's all in getting a feel for what you can do with the gas pedal before the tires get over zealous so to speak.
In reference to the re-calibrated parts, the transmission has been modified to be able to properly perform and handle the increase in power. How was it done? I haven't a clue. I just said do it and it was done. I don't know dick-all about parts or any of that, i just hand over my plastic when the bill comes in (yes i'm one of 'those' guys!!).
When it comes to the supercharger, i got a new one and there were some modifications done to it before it was installed. I think the s/c was B&M originally (that's standing out in my mind for some reason) and as far as what it was tuned to do, again, i only paid for it.
I'm not bothered by you bringing this up Redneck, i understand how you'd want to figure it out being the genius you are when it comes to these things!
I'm done with this now, i feel like i'm running in circles for some
deja-vu-ish reason.
:bloated:
j/k! I do remember when it brought up before, just being a goof.
:iamwithst
PS: Didn't the stock '94 SSEi have 240hp and 285lb/ft of torque?

I don't see how a stop watch can be accurate, those who can see why I don't know... but whatever, you seem to have found a way to make it accurate. I'll email you a cookie or something. :iceslolan
Just get your car to the track ASAP so we all know what the truth is. I'd love to see if you're correct.
And there's nothing wrong with being a 'plastic' mechanic. Meaning you pay for people to do your work and you just pay a bill. We all fiddle with our cars for the same basic reasons, does it matter how we do it?
I think they made the 240hp 285tq jump in '96 or '97. Cause from what I can find the '95 had the same power as the '94 (225hp 275tq).

Hmmm...ok my mistake on the '94 power then.
Glad to know i'm not held at the guilotine for being a 'plastic' mechanic! But you're exactly right, we all tune our cars for the same reason; Looks, speed, the thrill of racing, something to be proud of, a hobby, whatever. As long as it's there, it's a great ride to be on!!
Just for argument sake, i didn't say the stopwatch was accurate, i said that based on the number of times i've done it with a stopwatch and different people involved using that stopwatch, all the numbers turn out pretty well the same.
To settle the whole thing, i'll hit a track sometime over the next week so we can finish the debate. Hope that makes it fair buddy!
