massive brake fade!! HELP ME!!!

ok, everytime i hit the brakes, it goes right to the floor, once and awhile i get pressure then it goes right to the floor again, so i've been using my clutch, e-brake and normal brakes to stop, i looked in my resivior and its full but looks really dirty... can the brake fluid be breakin down on me?? or is it my master cylinder thats shot? lemme know so i can do something friday, i get off work at 2 so i'll get a master cylinder if thats it then, tonight i'm gonna be flushing the system prolly and adding new fluid, when the cars been sittin for awhile, the brakes seem alright tho.. i'm VERY mad and puzzled, plz help guys and gals, thanx

Bad master cylinder

Have you noticed any wetness on any of your wheels? I've had the same symptoms before & it was the rear brake line (the metal portion of the line had rusted through) each time. The second time I had to replace the line it turned out that the wheel cylinder was bad too.

You may not notice any fluid on the ground if the car is stopped/parked, but like I said, check for any fluid on the inside of your rims/tires.

i also had the same problem, in my case it was the rear wheel cylinder, but it could be a leak anywhere in the system or just a faulty master cylinder

alright, well i'm getting a free brake inspection done while i'm at work today, they said it could be the fluid because when i opened the fluid resivoir the fluid was pretty much black. i can still get my car to stop when i hold the brake pedal to the floor and once and awhile it will lock up on me so i still am getting some pressure to them, i've replaced one rear wheel cylinder and both rear metal brake lines already, master cylinder looks like its brand new, i'll see what they say tho today, any more ideas would b good

nope, brand new pads and rotors, we fixed it however tonight tho, it was the master cylinder, earlier we flushed the fluid.. didnt do ne thing, then l8r tonight me and my buddy replaced the master cylinder and it works excellent now :D

Did you have to bleed the lines at each wheel after doing that?

When replacing the master cylinder a brake flush should be done. Bleed each brake until new/clean fluid comes out.

i bled the brakes and flushed the whole system before i changed the cylinder, when i bought the cylinder, all they said to do was to bench bleed the master cylinder, so i did that and it works fine, no problems yet, but the reason i bled the brakes first was cuz i had black brake fluid in there so i flushed it all out to see if it would help... but it didnt so i replaced the master cylinder

after we fixed it we took the car out and got it sideways a few times so they do work really good hehe :D
