I've always said military and aircraft modellers are crazy. Now I bring you proof - and what proof this is! Two in progress models that a friend of mine is working on. He allowed this to be posted here, but I had to resize the pics (trust me, the effect is much better on big pictures!)

The first model is Mi-8 Here is a pic with some parts. As far as I know, nothing opens in the kit oob, so a lot of scratchbuilding went into this.

How cool is this!!!!!!! The inside pic.

And there are also green lights!

Another view.

Cockpit lighting.

Prijector lights on the landing gear. There is a number of other lights all over the aircraft, but I'm trying to save traffic.

The second model is Mi-24

It has an electric motor that rotates the main rotor, as well as one in the tail boom for the tail rotor! Think that's all?

Lights at the ends of the rotor blades.

Lights on the tail boom (just one pic, there are many more!)

And the coolest thing of them - the cockpit instrument panel.

A clsoeup - how cool is that!!!!!! :screwy:

Anyway ... not sure what to say, the pics speak for themselves

The maker(s) I have to find out - probably Italeri or one of Russian manufacturers, or someone else, there are plenty. And none of the lighting came with the kit, and not only that, but in fact most of what you see has been scratchbuilt or modified extensively. A lot o aftermarket parts as well, and hours and hours of diligent work. I'm quite awed by his models (he doesn't have many in his collection, but what he does have is worth a dozen others).

Great craftmanship, and it made me think !!! :thinkerg:
Working headlights on one of my model cars would be cool, anyone ever attempted and acheived this.
