'98-'02 Accord Tranny Issues

Hey guys. I'm in the market for a new car, and I'm 95% positive I want to get an 98 (or newer) Accord in the close future. However, recently I've been reading about a lot of tranmission troubles with this generation of the Accord. This really discouraged me. Reading into it further, it SEEMS like the only transmissions having trouble are the automatics, and I'm definitely going to purchase a manual. I was wondering if the defects in the transmissions are ONLY in the automatics, or if it carries over to all trannys in this generation.

If someone could clear that up for me I'd be very greatful. I have an '89 Accord right now with 180k miles on it and it's still kicking. I want an Accord for their reliability and looks, but with these transmission troubles, I'm having seconds thoughts.

Thanks

-Mark

Yes the problem is auto not manuall. there is an issue of the carrier bearings on the differential and alot of them have torque converter issues but you will be safe with a 5spd.

Thanks a lot man, I appreciate it.

Looks like I'll be the proud owner of an accord in the near future :D
