:smokin: I have a 2001 tahoe that have had no problems with but i have been reading all the problems with the cooling system problems due to dexcool. should i flush that stuff out my system and use the regular green antifreeze before this happens to my tahoe.

I have heard to avoid dexcool as well. I mistakenly used it when I swapped my water pump/radiator/hoses this summer and will be replacing it with enviro-friendly green stuff.

Even though Dex-cool is good for 100K, I recommend that it be changed at 50K.
Also pay close attention to your cooling system level, I have found that vehicles that run low on coolant are more apt to have clogging and contamination problems.

DexCool is a lot more complicated than this. Air totally contaminates the chemistry. When it is compromised, it crystalizes and rots the entire metallic system. Heater cores are the most susceptable. The ONLY thing to do is to flush it out of your cooling system and replace it with old-fashioned green coolant. Some GM mechanics who are either idiots or liars will tell you green coolant will ruin your seals - not true. I had many problems until I did the 5 hour acid wash flush and replaced it with green coolant. That was a year and 20K miles ago, and no problems. By the way I got a written letter from GM engineering stating that the green coolant WILL NOT harm the gaskets and seals.

By the way, it sounds simple, but the radiator cap has to be replaced as well with a newer version that reduces air infiltration and opens at a different temp.
