Miscellaneous Questions

Okay I am trying not to post to much, but I built one model and suddenly I have all these questions. First of all, my first model was a '66 GTO from Revell, it was fun but I really had no idea what I was doing so it turned out dark blue on top, light on the sides, and I had some serious fitting and decal application. Anywhoo, I want to try a Tamiya, can anyone suggest a goodmodel? Also I want to try the '66 1300 VW Bug for my dad, it was his first car and I want to duplicate it (black exterior and red vinyl), has anyone heard positive or negative things about the model? And I probably could of searched for this :nono:, but as long as I had other questions...I want to airbrush these SOOOOO badly, I want double action and be able to do details like flames but also be able to do car bodies. I was thinking about the Iwata CS, help me PLEASE :crying:!!! Thanks you for baring with me while I search for model knowledge.

could you show us some pics of the Gto?

All Tamiya kits are good choices. The VW Bug sounds good. Or try a curbside model of a street car (no engine, no decals). Easier build. Maybe a Lancer Evo VI or an S2000?

I bought an Iwata Eclipse CS last week and an Iwata SmartJet compressor. Heard nothing but good things about them. Can't wait.

PLEEEAAAASE keep in mind that this was a first model that I wanted to finish before school started (mistake), I didn't prime and had no idea or tips on what I was doing. You can see where I had some globby spots and the big black spot on the side is a paint touchup gone wrong. Sorry for the really bad pics, all I have is a webcam.

You should definietely try teh Tamiya Nissan Skyline R 34. That is a really nice kit. or if you want somethiong a bit easier, you should go and try the Nissan Z. this is one really easy kit. good luck.

I don't want to build any curbside models, so are there any Tamiya models that you can warn me about? Does Tamiya make a lot of curbsides?

I would go for a basic street car, rather than some fat old race car with hundreds of decals. I'm building the porsche 911Gt1 and im having difficulty with the decals, and ive been building for years. The porsche boxter i built a while back was a good kit, it was a curbside but you can see all the engine from underneath. Pretty simple but looks cool when its finished in a decent colour. Basically any tamiya kit that takes your fancy will be pretty good, but most of the road cars tend to be curbsides, with more of the racing cars having full engine detail. The Sauber Mercedes C9 i just finished went together perfectly with no fit problems, and has a simple paint job and not too many details. As its a 13 year old kit on re-release you can pick it up pretty cheap. But whatever takes your fancy, you cant really go wrong :licka:
