youll have better then a decent car. i never heard problems bout the yamaha engine that is in this car. a friend of mine has a 93 sho and the only complaint he has bout his car is the tranny, which is the exact same trans that is in every taurus that years which means it is a automatic. i dont think you would have problems with the manual. if i were in a postion to buy this car i would. which should tell you alot cuz i am a serious import fan. but i do love the shos.

thanks mikegee for the info. i was also lookin at the new Zex nitrous system where the nitrous goes in through the air filter, would that work with the sho, like a 75hp shot.

aint nothing wrong with that but theres a lot to be done before that. maybe the last thing. start with intake and exahaust.

The Yamaha V6 is a bulletproof motor, if its been taken care of. Just remember though, if something breaks or needs to be replaced reguarding the motor, it will normally cost twice as much as a normal Taurus.

true true same tranny not the same motor and inturnal motor work is expensive anyway.

thanks, mikegee was talking about exhaust and im thinkin about 3a racing muffs. i kinda want a ricey sound,(so i can wake up the neighbors) but i dont know much about the resonators and stuff of that sort. so whats ur opinion i was thinkin, performance plus y-pipe, back to a single 18in resonator to two 3a racing muffs, would this work. all helps appreciated.

your actully making it more complicated then needed. ok you can do as ya please when it comes to exhaust. the only thing needed is the after market exhaust less restrictive then the stock exhaust. the quicker you can get burnt fuel and air out of ya engine the quicker ya can bring air and fuel back into ya engine to be ignited all over again. this is why intake & exhaust is not only the simplest upgrade its also one of the most needed. but all of this ya prolly already know. as for sound ya on ya own unless ya can talk to someone else i knowledge does not include sounds unless its the whirl of a turbo and squish of a blow off valve. oh i would be that import that youd would try to eat but youll spit me out cuz ill be the posion thatll one day out run ya 5ltr with my 2ltr.

And at the end of the day, you're still driving a Honduh. Almost any car is reliable if its taken care of. I see more american cars with 200K+ on them them Jap cars. Its funny that you'd have to campare a stock SHO to a modified Civic(stock Civics just don't have a chance :screwy: ). I'll take a vette over a Honduh any day .

ok its time to get a bit nasty. if you see more merkin vehicales with over 200k on the odom, then you must live in hick ville or something. i see 1 merkin to atleast 5 jap cars with over 200k. yea my cousin has a gmc truck with over 200k and his daughter has a 92 cavi with 200k. both being a gm and he is a 35 year auto mech. mhm all the other people with cars over 200k are jap cars, not mechs. and nor can they afford to shell out money every month. i call it the way i see it. i am not bias in anyway. i do love all cars but you cant buy an american car, not know anything bout cars pay less the $15 gees and still get 200,000 miles out of it.

Ok now that "we" are now talking about drag racing......
NHRA Top Fuel is the quickest sport on the planet. Here are just a few pieces of info that may surprise you.
Did you know that a nitromethane powered engines produce over 6,000 HP to be able to reach the speeds and ET,s they attain. Well over 40-times that of the average car.
A Top Fuel Dragster accelerates from 0-100 MPH in about 0.8 seconds.
A Top Fuel Dragster leaves the starting line with a g-force rating of 5 g's (5-times the force of gravity), and matching that of the space shuttle lifting off from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
A Top Fuel Dragster/Funny Car also has a reverse force of 5 g's when both parachutes deploy simultaneously.
One a typical 1/4-mile pass, the Top Fuel cars consume 4-5 gallons+ of fuel for just the pass. The complete run (burnout, staging, and pass) uses 10-12 gallons of fuel. When the term "Gallons Per Mile" was first spoken, they had to be thinking of Top Fuel ...
The Top Fuel Dragster accelerates faster than a Formula 1 car, jumbo jet, and even a jet fighter.
Speaking again of fuel ... the fuel pump on a Top Fuel car delivers over 65 gallons of fuel per minute. Roughly equal to eight bathroom showers running at the same time.
Measured fuel line pressures in a Top Fuel Dragster operate between 400-500 psi.
Aerodynamics become life-threatening important so as to keep these cars under control. The averege wing on a Top Fuel car applies between 4,000 and 8,000 pounds of downforce (depending on angle and size).
With all this horsepower and force, parts have to be extermely durable. Especially when takes a mere 15/100th of a secound for 5000+ horsepower to reach the rear wheels. Now THAT'S throttle response!
Never complain about your street tires wearing out prematurely when the monster meats on a Top Fuel car are only good for roughly 2 miles, or 4-6 passes.
Exhaust exit angle is also important in that there is so much exhaust velocity (easier to compare as THRUST) that a slight variation in the angle will change the direction of the car. Even to the point that is say the car hits the wall and smashes a bank of exits or turns them downward it can literally throw the car into a roll.
And that's over 6,000 HP with good ol American Iron...... when you find a import that can do that let us know. :grinno:

The Mitsu Evo is a nice car as is the Subaru WRX STi. Read a recent issue of Car and Driver. They review a bunch of tuner (import) cars that have been beefed up to no end; some reaching 400+hp (courtesy of forced induction). At the end of the article they did something funny. "Here's the problem. We took this stock 2004 Corvette Z06, and spanked all of them" That gave me a good laugh.

if they toned an evo to 400 hp? is that at the wheels or flywheel? i see no problem for an evo or sti to beat a z06. the z06 is what 405 at the flywheel, not the wheels and it has stock nice but still stock wheels on it that alone should call for the z06 to lose. not to mention that the z06 is heavier. i donno i think i would have to disbelieve that report. i could be wrong on all of this but i dought it. i could be wrong in saying that car and driver is bias in favor of american muscle over import tuners.

The Z06 beat the closest competitor (Comptech S2000) by 1.3 seconds. The Z06 did the same test as all the others.

My point is that the Z06 is better & faster then the tuned imports ( you also save some money with the Z06 too), and it was proven.

ok sho me (no pun intented) i can not see a tuned evo to 400 hp losing to a z06. i can't the tuned evo is still going to be lighter out handles most as the best in stock form. is equally fast as an 03 svt cobra (i got that from MT). sho me

So yeah ok I suppose the Vette will lose to the Evo when all you do is bench race (which looks like all you'll be doing anyway) but when you take the cars out and watch them perform you see the difference. First there is something called torque that not many import companies know that we here like to measure on our cars. Torque is the force the car can apply to get itself moving. More low end torque equals faster car off the line, which I am guessing the Corvette is completely killing until all the imports reach 8000 RPM at which they can only stay for one second until they have to shift into the next gear. The Corvette has 400 lb/ft of torque at low RPMs and can move off the line much faster. It develops power from idle all the way up to 6 grand and beyond with the newer ones. Another thing affecting the outcome of the race is lag caused by high boost on the turbos. It takes a while for 20+ PSI to kick in, boost has to build it's not just there when you hit the gas as boost is dependent on exhaust gas velocity. The Corvette can just go boom and it's making butt loads of torque ANYWHERE in the powerband. Plus that Corvette can be taken out and driven on the streets on 92 octane pump gas whereas those imports with their high boost could not dream of running anything as low as 92. Try 118 airplane fuel or something, unless they have some severe low compression which robs them of even more needed torque and look what ya got.

ok then would a car with more torque be out ran by an import normally aspierated? and turbo lag is cause by larger turbos with heavey turbine and a larger space for the exhaust fumes have to fill, with a smaller turbo you still get a nice boost in power with no turbo lag.
