Tivo anyone?

I have been looking into getting a Tivo system. Does anyone here have one? If so, is it worth it? Or what are your thoughts on it for those that dont have one.

OK, I looked all the specs over 3 times, and I still can't figure out what it is. Can you elaborate for me?

Its kinda like a big vcr with tons of features. it can record tons of shows and stuff. It can do alot more than that, but you get the jist. Its like a big hard drive that you hook to your tv

EDIT: On topic....I would already own one, but I dont watch much tv anyways. They are a great investment if you love tv, and especially if you dont get a chance to watch your favourite programs, for whatever reason.

i'm almost positive that gang$tarr said he had tivo, ask him about it...

I never watch TV, but it'd be great for recording rallys and stuff...

I've had a TiVo for about a year and a half. At first glance, it seems like just another piece of gadgetry to clutter up your living room. After you get used to it, you wonder how you got along without it.

If, for instance, the phone rings during your favorite show, you can pause it or, when you get back to watching, you can rewind it (I'm talking live TV, not recorded). TiVo keeps up to half an hour of the channel you're watching in memory at all times...so you can always rewind and see what you missed.

If you like a show, say "Friends," you can ask it to record "Friends," not "NBC 8pm on Thursday." This means you can watch this week's new episode as well as the five episodes that air in syndication each week.

If you get one, I highly recommend the lifetime subscription, you'll save money in the long run.

I don't know how many friends have come to the house and, after trying TiVo out, said "I need one!"

I have had a tivo now for about 3 years and I swear I hate regular tv because of it.

Once you have had total control of what you actually watch, you will too.

I found it's great not just for recording your fave shows, or pausing to go to the toity, but also for delayed show watching so you can skip the ads.

Usually, on 1 hour shows I am going to watch when they come on, I wait 15 or so minutes. Then I get to skip thru commercials and be happy. On 30 min shows, its only about 8 minutes to wait.

Perfect time to get your snacks in order, your beers chilling and to get the kiddos in bed or sedated.

I've not yet met anyone who did not love their tivo. And many who get 1, end up with several.

If I culd afford more than 1, you can bet your booty I'd have one in every room with a TV.
