Teen suffocated to death by fish

A CAMBODIAN teenager suffocated when a fish he caught jumped out of his hands and lodged in his throat, newspapers reported today.
Lim Vanthan, 17, and his family were planting rice at the weekend near their home on the outskirts of the impoverished South-East Asian nation's capital, when they decided to go for a swim.
During his dip, Lim Vanthan caught a prized 20 cm fish, called kantrob in Cambodian, with his hands.
But the high school student's excitement was short-lived when his catch squirmed out of his hands and jumped into his mouth, where it became stuck because of barbs running down its back.
He died before he could receive treatment at a local clinic, the newspapers said.
"This is an accident, but it shows we must all be careful," concluded the Khmer-language Rasmei Kampuchea (Light of Cambodia) newspaper. "Accidents can happen at any time."

I have a better one than that:
On Animal Planet they had a show called "eaten alive" talking about the various parasites a person can host..
They had a segment on a fish that burrows into other fish and sucks their blood. It finds the other fish by sensing urea in the water and following the scent.
Long story short, a guy was standing out in the ocean (or lake, I don't remember) and decided to take a piss. Next thing he knew, a .5" wide by 5" long fish had eaten and burrowed its way up his penis. He grabbed it by the tail to prevent it going any further, and had to have it surgically removed.

yeah i saw that. it had a rather name because they only showed about 20. When my mom worked in a hospital ER, she says someone came in with a peanut butter jar lodged... into them. want to guess where? :icon16:

So the most important thing we have learned from this story, is that if ever a food-like animal leaps into your mouth, you should at least try and eat it, and savor the flavor (as opposed to not eating it, and dieing)
