Humbrol paints are not water based and you dont really want to be using them for interiors apart from tiny detailing bits. I'm a Tamiya addict, everything from the model to the paint but i always use Humrol's silver instead of Tamiya's chrome silver cos i (personal opinion) think i'ts crap. Yes.......Humbrols silver is fantastic, covers really well.

I've never used Humbrol. Just Testors, and a few Tamiya paints in the bottle. Am I the only one that uses Testors all the time? Bottle and cans just clap your hands? I mean, just bottles and cans from Testors?

Humbrol paints are really nice for interiors - some of those military colors can really add some pop!
Tamiya acrylics are nice too.
Testors stuff is nice - if you don't mind waiting forever for it to dry. Personally, I think Testors dries faster in the bottle than on the model. Then again, that's fine with me - after it starts to thicken up, I just thin it with some lacquer thinner - helps it flash out quicker and go on a bit smoother.

I use testors or humbrol for everything, although I do have one tamiya spraycan. I thin mine down quite a bit and try to get two coats in perpendicular brush strokes to give it good coverage without being too thick on the model. Thinning also helps the enamel self-level and gives you a little more work time before it becomes gummy and starts setting.
True, it does take quite a bit longer to dry, but IMO the finish holds up to abuse and handling much betten than acrylic when fully cured

I like Humbrol too. I don't have too many colors, but I notice quite a difference over the ModelMaster stuff that I normally use. Seems to go on smoother and dry a whole lot nicer. I thin with lacquer thinner and don't have any problems with brushing.
Where I live Humbrol is quite a bit cheaper than ModelMaster, which is also an incentive.
