Does anyone know where to find the wire in a Vp commodore for connecting the auto dimmer of a head unit to the instrument cluster control.

I assume the headunit would have to be wired into the head light wiring, so it dims the unit when the lights are turned on.
I dont know about wiring it to the instrument cluster dimmer, as it may blow the lights in the head unit.
Normaly an earth is connected to the head lights, so that when they are turned on, the head unit dims the back light.
Sometimes the manufactor may include the wiring in the stereo loom, but its a feature not found on many stereos any more, and one I dont consider worth bothering with.
However if you are really keen to hook it up, then I plugged your thread title into google and came back with a page of possiblities: http://www.google.co.nz/search?q=Vp+commodore+wiring+loom&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

Cheers, i will give that a crack. The only reason i want to use it is because my Alpine head unit is really bright at night, and it takes a bit of fiddling to dim it through the menu.
