i havnt drove my red hatch in about a week. i've been told several times that the problem this time in my main relay(now gawd damn the moment i fix something, something else goes to hell.)

well anyway i have no idea where its located, i've looked on all the ebay auctions and they said under the dash on the drivers side. basically right above your change drawer. anyyyyyway. so i set out on my red hatch looking for the damn thing, and it beats the hell outtah me but i couldnt find the damn thing

so the next thing i did was goto my project hatch and have a closr and more bare view of everything, now keep in mind i didnt take off the dash for any of this....should i
i figure ill just swap the main relay from my 91 dx to my 91 si(are they the same?)well i couldnt find the damn thing in my project nither, so now im leaving this up to my fellow 4gs.....

Will a mainrelay from a 91 DX be compatible in a 91 SI?
Do i have to take out the dash to locate it? if not can you try and be as specific as you can to where i might locate it?

also

i recently installed my shit stereo before my man darkimportgrey went back to school and it is just shit, i turn it above 30 on my deck and the bass just stops, like the amp looses power. what could this be? it started doing this recently, didnt happen until about 3 days after the install.

also

is there anyway to hook up a microphone through your deck to amplify through the speakers? i am a musician by heart and it is all i ever do until i get a few moments for the car and me and my partner at our last bbq thought it would be sick if we could just perform our show from the car, instead of spending company money on a new pa system.

also

d16a6 for sale
d16a6 head on a d15 block for sale
TONS of parts from a 91 dx and more
also i have tons of other shit for sale not car related..take a look in the classified thread for some of it.

i am sure i will have more by the morning but this is it for now...

Your post isn't long enough :banghead:
The main relay is simple to replace - behind the change pocket above the hood release.

what size power/ground cables are you using?

Yes get yourself a CB radio with PA output & get a speaker. Check Radio Shack.

Keep it short and sweet :nono:

normally unless you have liek 20 subs and 2,000 watts, power and ground cables arent the issue....unless you have like 10 gauge wire. Most likely, the amp is going on the protect circuit. Check and see how your speakers are hooked up.. a lot of consumer grade amps are not bridgeable to 2ohm mono, and so will shut off when the amp overloads itself.. just something to think about..

what setup are you running... what amp and how many channels is it, what subs, and are they DVC or not, and how do you have them hooked up?

The main relay is a little black box like dude said...between the change drawer and the hood pull...it is about a 1" cube...and I think they are all the same.

I dunno enough about stereos to help you...mines been broke for 3 weeks and I am too lazy to fix it. :( It sure is quiet in my car except for my nice exhaust :naughty: :grinyes: :evillol:

I installed his system (I am MECP certified) and I can tell you that it is all installed correctly. The equipment itself just sucks a dick.

well thanks to everyone who relied to this thread, im going to check on the main relay right after this post. im glad i posted though because my father now said he would pay the dealership to order me one, so i got some money on the way i think, although he doesnt know im just going to take it off my project.

and as for the stereo, i turned down both the subs on the amp im using and the shit still cuts off, yet the bass hardly hits...but like darkimportgrey was saying it is a SHITTY setup(product wise) but like i said before i even turned down the power being send to the subs...any more input would help on this little problem

UPDATE:

today i went to the honda dealership and bought a new main relay for $70, plugged it in and the car starter and the stereo wasnt breaking out anymore...looks like the relay was the answer to a few of my questions...

anyone still up to answer my question on hooking up a mic in your car and having it played through all speakers.

That sounds like a very poor idea...

Ever heard of "feedback"?

So, what exactly is it that you're after? You want a microphone installed in the car to use as a PA system?

not even a pa system, that would require alot more equipment just in the car but i have never thought of that, althrough that is still alot more equipment then i was trying to accomplish. thats why i was asking it if was possible to hook a mic or two into the deck to make it amplified through all the cars speakers that are existing so me and my group could perform mobile.

i've never heard anything like this before and when i thought about it, it would be beneficial for selling cds, getting heard, and making money. shit like lunch yard school shows just out the back of my car. bascially anywhere were called for

but to go off your pa system thought that isnt such a bad idea im going to look a little into that right now.

i was takeing a look at this amp. i have the larger version for my home studio and it is great, havnt not been impressed sence i purchased it. but if i purchased this one how would i hook it up to the deck. RCAs(?) is my guess. but on my deck there is only 2 RCA imputs being used by my subs. would i have to purchase a new deck? or am i just getting off track? haha

Dude... I'm still so confused...

So, you and your buddies are going to sit in your car and perform? So where's the audience going to be?

A PA system in your car wouldn't work for something like that because they sound like shit... (and when I say PA system, I'm not talking about the kind of PA system that's used for musical performances)... I'm talking about one like this:

http://www.unipex.co.jp/carpa/carpainfo.jpg

Anyways, if you hooked up a mic through your deck, you could never amp it loud enough for everyone around your car to hear, because you would feedback WAY too bad...

Oh, and that picture that you posted above looks like a mixer, not an amp... I'm sure it's got a pre-amp in it or something, but I doubt that it puts out a signal strong enough to run speakers without an external amp... Then again, I don't know.

Phact

ok let me try to explain this...

We wouldnt be sitting in the car, i'd run all the mics to the rear of the car(hatch section), in which then the microphones can be tooken by hand outside of the vehicle where we would perform(where all the audience would be[outside around the rear of the car or even all around])

and to your pa system thought....i knew about stuff like that but my main purpose was to have it amplified through the subs and components for better quality and all around lack of using shit like that you know.
im trying to go a little beyond thaT, i know theres a way around this :)

Just Lose It? - i'm about to....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've poured about four hours into finding my main relay and i don't believe i'm missing it anywhere. there are quite a few good links out there on how to and why.
http://autorepair.about.com/cs/trou...l/aa010301a.htm
http://techauto.tripod.com/mainrelaydefine.htm
http://mustardcat.brinkster.net/p3g...y/mainrelay.htm

But still can't find the bloody thing. I'm in a 1988 Accord LX. It's carburated, i just aquired it. Yesterday i narrowed it down to no fuel. (It started when I poured down the carb) So it's either fuel pump or no power to it. I've got the fusepanel out even just to get a good look around (3hrs worth) and still nothing. I'm not blind either.

Is there anywhere else it could be? Is it possible that it wouldn't have one?

Help!!!

Jason

2. This is a civic forum, but i'm sure some people here might be able to help you :)
