The same (and more) as jinushaun posted. There's a pipeline that's been broken/getting repaired here so the price-gouging games have begun. Many Phoenix area gas stations are out of gas, or not letting people in for awhile is more like it. We got the news last week that this was happening so I got gas Thursday night, I should be good til the end of this week but I am gonna go get gas at 4am to avoid the lines. It's a hell house right now.

Still cheap considering tax on it is at least 40 cents per gallon in most states. Nobody complains about the gouging taxes on gas, I say raise hell about that instead. :banghead:

It's only affecting Arizona. The part that broke is between here and Tucson. I am sure there are "valves" along the way where they can shut down some sections and other places not near the break can still get gas. My guess is its another price-gouging game

That's a good point, we have it good on gas prices here. If you look back in history at how much the price of other goods and services have gone up over the years, fuel hasn't risen near as much. I don't know why Americans get so bent out of shape over gas prices whenever there is a surge, guess they just need something to bitch about and it's an easy target.
There are only so many pipelines and there haven't been any refineries built in years, mostly due to environmentalist, the current ones run at 98% capacity 24/7. This makes the supply extremely tight, therefor any pipeline rupture, refinery fire or shutdown, war or anything that interupts supply affects price almost imediatley.
I'm not saying there isn't profit taking when these things occur, the futures market controls the prices which are decided by the speculators and overall production and world oil inventory. The futures market is as close to legal price fixing as you can get, but it's what we got.

It really depends on my diet at the time. At times, my gas has been as high as the roof, as evidenced by the height of the doona. A couple of times my gas was so high that my girlfriend hit the roof when playing 'dutch ovens'. But when not in bed, difficult to measure really. I would be conservative in saying no more than 3-4 metres.

I pay $1.80 to $1.90 USD for premium or "supreme" gas around here. The good ole 93 octane does wonders for my gas mileage. I'm getting 30-36 miles per gallon (when I want :cwm27: ) in my '92 grand prix. I'm using the SHELL formulated gas, it's made to improve your gas mileage.

It varies. At the moment it's about $NZ1.15 for Synergy 8000 (Mobil 98 Octane). That's the only petrol that ever goes in mine and Moondog's cars.

Do you get Shell Optimax (98RON) in NZ as well? A lot of local guys reckon that it's better in their ITRs, Skylines etc.

I have to put super-plus into my car. A liter costs between 1.15 - 1.20 Euros which equals about $1.35-1.40 USD per liter. (Regular unleaded is about 15 cents cheaper.) Multiply that by 3.8, and a gallon of super plus costs around $5.00 USD. To fill my tank it costs about 85 Euros, or close to $100.00 USD. I drive close to 35000kms (20000 miles) a year, so you can imagine how much I spend on gas each year.
I think it's funny when Americans and Canadians complain about "high" gas prices. :grinyes:

Our gas down here in tha big TX is $1.62.. The highest it's ever been is $5.19 that was on 9-11. Then the gas stations around here got in trouble so it went down some.. One guy even got arrested for it.. It has dropped to like 89 cents since then. Then it climbed back up and it's continuously risin'.. 89 cents? Those were the days... :shakehead

The cheapest gas that I've bought in Canada in my driving career (started driving in 1989) was 36.9 cents/liter in Edmonton during one of Edmontons famous gas wars. At the time (early 1990), the average price was about 45 cents per liter in Edmonton. Later that year it shot up to 66.9 due to the looming Gulf War.
