Idle Problems

I have never had this problem with my car before, but after I got my oil changed the other day my car had been having idle problems real bad. Getting the oil changed may have nothing to do with it, but it just started acting up right after I had it changed. What happens is when I come to stop lights or to a cpmplete stop it gets real low, almost to the point where you can't even here the car running. I have not cats and 3 1/2 inch tips on my car, so when it is on you can normally here it with out any problems. It completly dies some times as well. It either happens when I am sitting still at the light for a little while, or when I am slowing down, to come to a stop at the light. Do you guys have any ideas on what might be causing this? All the fuel, and electrical wiring is stock, so I am not sure if this needs to be upgradded. Or would a simple tune-up do the trick. Please let me know what you think.

I had a somewhat similar problem with mine a year or so ago, except mine would not stay running. It would crank, but wouldn't stay running unless I was actively giving it gas. It was the idle regulator (I think that's what it was called). Once I replaced that, it was fine. Don't know if this would fix your problem or not, but it's worth a try.

Ok I will look into it. I have just gotten to the point where I keep my foot on the gas slightly just so my RPM's stay up. When I do this it seems ok, but other wise it will jsut die. I only had one problem with it not wanting to start back up. Other than that I only have to turn the key a couple of times and it will start right back up.

It could be alot of things, your idle speed could be too low, your fuel filter could be clogged, your choke could be adjusted wrong or it could be sticking, your distributor could have gotten wet or messed up, your spark pluges could be gapped wrong (did you do a tune up with the oil change?), you also could have a vacuum leak at the fuel injection unit.

my guess is either fuel filter or iac sensor, check em out. why not replace the fuel filter anyways, they are real cheap and easy to replace!
