Funky Trany issues!!!

My 92 5spd golf has a crunchy third gear sometimes, and it pops out of fifth at high speed. When it pops out I have to fight with the stick to get it to go in to any gear. What the heck could be going on?

To find out why they do that, check the gear oil at the speedo cable hole. There was none there. filler up! next, realize that your oil seals between the drive flange and differential housing are leaking. Replace!

When doing this, don't be like my dad and get and hope to get away with the original c-clips. Buy the oil seal kits!

Be sure to clean the cv's off with soap and water as oil will eat away your joint boots.
