Looking for clean motor suggestions plz

Hi All,
Seems that no matter how often I'm under the hood of my Max with a rag full of solvent I can't seem to keep it clean. I use my Max for daily commuting to and from work and and in no time the motor looks trashed.
Anyone have luck with an product that I can apply to the motor compartment and hose off? For that matter, is it okay to hose down a Maxima motor like with the '70's hot rod motors? Or do I run the risk of screwing up something in the electrical system?

I hose my down to clean it, and it's run to 198,xxx miles :bigthumb:
