RB26DETT Rebuild or Replace?

Once I get over to Japan (military) and pick up an R32 GTR I am probably going to end up with a higher mileage one. A friend of mine told me that performance parts in Japan are fairly expensive (similar to US Pricing) however OEM parts are dirt cheap.
So could I just have a full rebuild done on the engine before I bring it back with me to the states? How much would something like that cost? Would it be cheaper just to get a low mileage front clip and swap in another RB26DETT? How much would something like that cost (are clips pretty cheap there?) Are labor costs pretty high? Could I just take it into a local Nissan dealership and have the work done?
Any help GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

Parts are a hell of a lot cheaper there in Japan, than what the rest of the world has to pay.
I say, learn about the car, and do the work yourself. It cheaper, and you get to learn about a car, that most Americans do not even get to see, let alone work on.
Yes you can get a used RB26DETT pretty cheap, but in the end its still used. You can build it to what ever spec you want.

better to tune a used engine providing its not really high miles. parts/labour is cheaper (and better) in japan, id recommend getting any work done over there before shipping.

I am talking about high miles, because the block has now been seasoned. Its much better for higher horse power applications. I am also referring to a complete rebuild, with better parts.

Well, I wasn't really reffering to a performance rebuild, just OEM, maybe a metal head gasket or something. But I was just talking a basic rebuild, gaskets, hoses, piston rings, seals, etc. Basically make the car run pretty close to new. I couldn't afford much else, and I don't plan on bringing the car to anything over 400whp for a long time (until I work my way up the pay scale). That R32 GT-R FSM in PDF format that was posted was awesome, that will be a great help to me working on it by myself. Although, I wouldn't trust myself to do a full rebuild, so how much would it cost me to pay someone to do it? Just an OEM rebuild, a rough estimate even would work fine.
Thanks!

By saying high miles i was thinking in the hundreds of thousands.

The rebuild itself with OEM parts will cost 4000 dollars (incidentally, you can buy a remanufactured engine DIRECTLY from Nissan for about 4300 USD).
The engine isn't the only thing that will need to be replaced.....bushings and bearings are likely going to need it too. If you do that, you might as well upgrade a number of the suspension parts as well.....
Thanks!
