The Fast and The Furious spent a total of (I'm trying to recall this strictly from memory) $315,000 on the cars and then spent another $200,000 "tuning" them. Now $200,000 is an assload of money but when we're talking about 20 or so cars, thats an average of about $1,000 per vehicle. And they spent a whole lot of money on the supra (which actually did 10.6 quarter miles(that is of course with "NOS" or as I call it NAWZ), which is why Vin Diesel raced him in the Charger and not his p.o.s. RX-7.) For the entire tuning of the Supra they spent $42,000 not including Labor, and for the Charger they spent nearly $60,000 to make that heavy-ass shit run a 10 second quarter. And also notice that tuning includes that Vinyl shit and bodykits that they figured would add the extra 100 hp they needed.:gay: Anyways, all in all, Fast and Furious did nothing to the cars but add bodykits and graphics and maybe a short ram for every one of the cars on that god-forsaken flick. Every car that had a turbo( besides the Supra) used a stock turbo system. If you remember the first race, the RX-7 (used a stock turbo version), and the Eclipse(GS-T for turbo, no upgrade) were the only ones who even had turbo, the other's simply used a cold-air intake and had a front mount OIL COOLER added to make it look like they had a turbo sys on them. Amen to that. That also didn't fit. What they did to make it do this was they soaked the tires in bleach and WD-40, which provides the white smoke and the ability for the tires to slip during the weelie. That's the only way that it can possibl be achieved. Now that was a long burnout while doing a wheelie...Yes it was, but it wasn't real they had about 5-6 different cameras taping the 1 second burnout and they played it from several different angles on the movie. Dumb, yes. did it actually burnout though, sadly enough, yes. :crying:

Also forgot to mention that they used a prop machine to yank the front of the car up off the ground with a hook that snapped off after the car got airborne, after it was airborne the power of the car finished bringing it to a full wheelie.

The posers are'nt ruining it for the "hardcore" racers. A harcore racer does'nt really give a rats ass what kind of "ricer" crap they put in a movie. A harcore racar thinks about his/her own car rather than "ricer" part some kid put on his/her car.

Sure I don't like the wannabe cars either...but bitchin about it does'nt help. I vent in a different way...I go hunting for wannabes and race them. Weapon of choice???...My pop's GSR, or a 1.5 civic (depends what I feel like driving).

If you want to see a good film, go to kazaa, and DL a movie called "the Last Race". It's only about 25 mins long, but it's much more realistic than TFTF, and that makes it better.

Somone in teh drag racing ring is running a D15 CRX, he's doing 10 second quarter mile times with no nitrous and no turbo...all motor. D15s don't suck, they're just not as good as other engines.

and the Eclipse(GS-T for turbo, no upgrade)Actually, that Eclipse wasn't a turbo model. It was a '95 or '96 RS with I believe a header, intake, & 50-shot nitrous kit. The turbo sound effects were from a turbo Integra.
Also, I read somewhere that the Charger wasn't even a Hemi. Was that correct?

The F&F moives were horrible incorect but no more sureal than the Terminator movies, Bad Boys, Die Hard, Rambo, etc.
If you go into them not expecting full accuracy, their good popcorn flicks. Sadly, people who are not knowledgable about cars take them as "tuning giudes" so to speak. Thus is born the dumbass-style ricers.

There's a difference between a good car movie and a good movie. I consider TF&TF a good movie.

Look at Hollywood's record on car movie's. The most recent Gone In 60 Seconds, TF&TF, 2F2F, Days of Thunder, ect.....

The original Gone was a decent movie, and Bullit was pretty good.

The point is Hollywood shoots for the largest common group. Being as true car people/rodders/tuner's are not in that group. They go for the flash to attract people. Remember, they are in the market to make money, nothing more, nothing less.
