Which E320 to buy?

Hi, I'm new to this board and wanted to ask everyone a question or 2. My girlfriend is in the market for a used Mercedes and is looking at the C and E series, specifically the E320 and C320. I want her to get the E because it's roomier and seems to ride smoother than the C. She has a budget of no more than $25,000 to spend and we have looked at 1999 and 2000 year models in the E's. We read somewhere that 1999s were better years to buy than 2000 but I don't know what that was based on. Is $25,000 realistic for a 1999 or 2000 E320 and were there issues with the 2000 model E320 vs 1999?
Thanks
