Alright heres the deal. I have 2 plans that I could put into action but i cant decide which is better.

Get a early carbed mustang 5.0, convert the front end to later style, swap in a crate 302 engine w/ 275hp, 3.73gears and nice loud throaty daul exhaust

--------------------or------------------------

Get a 1st gen 240SX, turbo it, do exhaust, intake, possibly convert the front to the silvia style, The exhaust will not sound like it has pebbles in it but will kinda sound like the way the 350Z sounds. My friend were i used to work has done it and told me how so dont worry about the fart can sound it will be non-existant.

I know you guys will probaly swing to the 5.0, but think it through. What i want to do will cost about the same for both cars. Im pretty sure they will be equally as fast considering the weight and power. The 240SX will have a little less horsepower but weighs around 2600lbs which is less then the mustang. It also has incredible suspension and handling.

How fast do you think the mustang would be in the 1/4. 275hp, nice wide tires and 3.73gears and 5 speed tranny.

How is the reliability for the carbed 5.0 engine?, from what i've read its pretty good but this way i can get here from someone whos had first hand experiance.

what ever the chicks will dig

who cares what the chicks like, i would rather be in a super fast good looking car then pick up tons of chicks in some jeep... but picking up chicks in mustangs is a VERY nice sideffect :naughty:

and as for the car, i would go for the mustang, not just because i am a mustang guy, but because it is way easyer to work on, and not to mention IMO it looks, sounds, and acts a lot meaner... just my two cents

I'm going to swing the way of the Mustang too. I'm not too familiar with the 240ZX, but from what I have heard they are decent cars. You can also make the Mustang pretty light too, what year is yours again? Carbed motors are pretty easy to work on if you know what your doing. What crate motor are you looking at that is rated at 275hp? With a 16% frictional loss in the drivetrain equaling about 231 RWHP, you might be able to get into the high 13's, considering that you can drive a stick well, get good 60 ft times, and get all the power to the ground.

yeh i think your right with that. update the front, saleen wing with LX body. I think it looks very clean. How much hp doe you think i will need to run 12's? Anybody know a good place for crate engine? I was going to use mustangengines.com which is the same as enginefactory.com. Im looking for a 79 to 85 cause there very cheap and i heard the carbed mustangs were a bit more reliable then the fuel injected 5.0's.

both are really good cars that can get 300hp fairly easy i say it depends on 3 things 1 style what looks better to you? 2 where you want your power from a rumbling 5.0 (lowend) or a whiring turbo (highend) ? either Ka-T or SR probbly. 3 what type of driving are you into? drag i'd say stang sporty driving 240sx both drift well though the 240 is easyier to conrol IMO me id take the 240 and get a stang at a later point.
