I need help!

Hey everyone,
I have a question. I recently bought a yokomo tuned pipe for my RC many months ago. i installed it and it's running fine. I cut the header and everything until my RC ran at its peak performance. The problem is that it sticks out too much. I have a HPI rs4 rtr to be specific. Right now inorder to put the shell on, i have a 1 1/2 inch by 1 1/2 inch panel cut out of my shell to fit it on. Other RCs with tuned pipes don't have theirs cut out like mine, so i was hoping if someone can tell me what i did wrong. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me.
