Intalling an exuast system

Hey guys,
i just bought a tunabe exhaust and i was wondering is it worth it to get it installed professionally or is it easy enough to do it your self if you have the right tools. Also what tools would be nessesry to do it. thanx :eek7:

Some times its easy to remove old exhaust & other times its a bitch. Soak the bolts you need to remove over-night with penatrating oil. If rusted severly then an impact gun should be used. Otherwise you may be able to remove the bolts with a socket wrech & wrench. Swapping exhaust on jack stands can also be a challenge. Overall I feel changing exhaust is fairly simple if its a true bolt-on.

Took me an hour to do mine.....no need to bring it to a shop.. :grinno:

only hard part will be the bolts on the cat.....
soak them like mad!!! and heat will help

ok i keep hearing this soak the bolts but how do you soak something when its on the car and soak them with what.???

its more like drench, not soak. DRENCH the bolts that connect the catalytic convertor to the rest of the exhaust system with WD-40 or another penetrating oil. only other bolts that you'll have to remove are the ones that connect a hangar to the exhaust system (between the cat and the resonator). might have to disconnect the section behind the rear axle as well...

I recently installed my tanabe exhaust, my bolts were rusted together, even with wd 40 it didnt come off i had to drill through it with 2 titanium bits and it took me a couple of hours but felt damn good to do it to yourself, but i doubt your bolts will be as rough as mine were.

WD-40 doesnt work to well on old ass exahust bolts. Try a better penatrating oil, I use a product called "Really Good Shit" I dont think they can sell that in the store :licka: How do you soak them? Spray the shit out of them a few times. First try tightening then remove the bolt. Just give a little turn to break it loose - then removing should be easier.

You just cut the damn things with a cut-off wheel on a drill, angle grinder, or cut-off tool. I dont think you wanna try with dremel too, that may take longer than drilling. Shit you could even snap the bolts with an impact or even enough force with a breaker bar. Then pound the rest out with a Ford wrench(hammer) Cutting torch is best!!!!!!!!!! :naughty:
