i've got a '94 buick lesabre limited with climate control. i evacuated the a/c system and recharged it to where it was supposed to be. now when i start the car up it blows out hot air for a few seconds. then the temperature on the climate control starts flashing and it gets cold as soon as it starts flashing. then it works fine until i shut the car off again. a friend of mine has a '94 park avenue and it's doing the exact same thing. is there just something that needs to be reset? if so what is it! please help!!

If the lights are flashing then you have a problem. It could be a under charge or over charge causing the lights to flash. You can try disconnecting the battery to erase the codes stored and see what happens. Most likely the codes will come back.

I have a 1993 LeSabre with the same problem.
I remember reading somewhere this has to do with under or over pressure. Tho my pressure is fine, and I even replaced the cycling switch. It also said that the AC control unit has to be reset, something that can only be done by a certified mechanic? With what? I don't know.
Maybe there is a way to reset it? I went to 2 certified mechanics, both said the unit simply had to be replaced. Now i'm looking for a unit on eBay or junkyards unless someone tells me how to reset the unit.
Just FYI, hope it helps...

I have since sold the car, and I still believe reseting or replacing the AC controller will fix it.
I found a service bulletin from GM 93-1-1, Nov. 1992:
A/C System Switches to ECON Mode and compressor inop.
Code 48 in A/C system, SCAN tool interface problem.
It basically says a scantool or some kind of key was inserted into the DCL. And caused the system to think there was something wrong with the A/C.
A code 48 will be set in the A/C controller itself, and can be reset trough "onboard diagnostics"...
Simply resesting the ECM (disconnecting battery) will not work!
Don't ask me how to reset the A/C controller, I removed it, examined it, but the problem persisted.
I have the service bulletin available if neccesary.
Let me know if you solved you problem.
