I just got this 85 CRX and I don't know what i can do with it. I've seen so much online about people taking the 88's and above and putting in bigger engines.. but i want this to be a pimp ride but i dont' know what i can do to it. Its got a lot of miles on the frame and some minor welding needed to be done, but the body looks alright. But i want power. I am new to all of this racing stuff and i need advice from people who know. If anyone can help me... please let me know

I just picked up an 86 CRX, and am looking for the same information. It's hard to find decent links for 1st generation CRX information.
Check this forum (for first generation CRX's and 3rd generation civics):
www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/f677
In fact, I'm going to move this thread to that forum because it's more apropriate in there since this is the 88-91 civic/crx forum.

which is down for the moment, but i'm sure tom will get all the bugs worked out on his new DSL connect...
there is plenty you can do my man!!!
the 85si was, some thought, a better rex than 86-87 just by a margin. it came with stock 13's so the gearing is little different, rumor had it that emitions lead them to change the maps on the 86-87 ecu and the 85 was way lighter! which makes it a good canidate for drag or autoX.
what are you planning for this little beast? street, strip or track
what's you budget? you could do a 200-300 d16a1 swap and get around 16hp to the wheels stock-------------- all the way to the turbo/super charged b18c that would run above 5 grand but i would guess and say with proper fuel managment, were talkin 250+ in you hosed the intercooler with nos or co2. don't quote anything exact!

I have an 85 crx as well, I blew the si motor in it twice already and am going to do a zc swap. But beside the point stuff for our cars is limited. Andys auto sport has a lame body kit, I think. Dc and pace setter has headers, and light speed has cold air intakes. I found out that alot of people mod 2nd gen rex parts on the first like body kits. Go to cardomain.com and look at the 1st gen rexes and you can find out about some stuff your looking for. looking for performance though means a meaner engine and the 86-87 integra is a basic direct bolt in.
hope this was some help and good luck

even just replacing spark pluges and getting nice heat resistant wires will boost your performance for really cheap

I just got a running 85 CRX Si for FREE today!!!!
I'm thinking of putting a d16a1 (85-87 Teg) motor in it, and build another Junk Yard Turbo kit.
I currently have a 89 Sedan that's turboed w/ a z6 head, a6 bottom end, LS rods rebushed and JE pistons. Running VAFC and dsm 450s for fuel management.
