91 CRX Si engine swap

I was thinking of swapping my 91 crx engine for a b16, but then I came across this story about keeping the d16a6 motor and doing some modifications to the block (replace pistons, rings, etc). I was wondering, which one would provide me with the most power and room for improvement. I also plan to add a Jackson Racing Supercharger to it later. clearance is an issue for me, because it is a daily driver.

go w/ the swap if you want to be able to do other stuff to it the mod to make your current engine vtec is for people who want something wierd. or such. b16 more reliable than that stuff.

I am getting tired as hell of b-16 swaps. I am going to stick with my d series and still be just as fast as far as money invested.

b16 stock @ 150 hp = reliable power
supercharged or turbocharged d16 @ 150 hp = unreliable power

I agree defintly b16 all the way, you will like the power the dohc vtec puts out better than the d series engine

by forcing more hp out of an engine you increase the wear and tear on all the moving parts inside your engine even if you replace the parts for high performance parts, such as pistons- rings- new engine bearings- ect.- ect.
anyway if you can get up to the qualaty of a b16, it'll prolly be the same price for a whole lot more work. i considered doing d16 but changed my mind for a b16. plus then you get DOHC lots more torque, better response, the only DOHC d sierese engine is the ZC that's very simular to the b16 cept not vtec. on the bottom line if you have something against vtec or b16 engines i reccomend a b18c non vtec, it's just a torque filled pony w/ a little less than the hp of a b16 and has lots of mods available. or if you don't mind a rediculously heavy front end then go h22, only you won't have room for air conditioning.
if anyone knows more than i please feel free to correct, i know i am not even close to being a guru as of yet. but i'm slowly working on it.

Go with the b16....there's a lot more potential, remember a supercharged d16 might have as much power as a STOCK b16 but once you supercharge the b16.....well bye bye d-series

Personally, I have a lot more respect for someone who builds a D-series that can rape B-series engines. :lol2: :lol2:
