Worth keeping the mustang?

Ive been driving the mustang around now for a while and havent really grown to like it. I've been thinking about trading it in for another car. I want the v8 but insurance would be too much for someone my age. Since my parents bought my sister a GSR, theyd pay for a car a I want that would equal in price so that puts me in the mid 20k range. Ive been thinking about a Boxster or a Eclipse Spyder. If i keep the mustang I would have around 7k to spend on mods. Im just wondering if its worth spending money on a v6 mustang, does it have potential?

well to put it to you this way, sell it. I love mustangs but if you cant get a 8 cyl dont bother. I guess you could supercharge it and do daul exhaust but if you gonna do that much work i suggest getting a different car. I will recommend a few...

240SX - Theres simple ways to have fast cars and not pay big incurance. For instants you can buy a 1989 240SX buy a real nissan turbo kit and have 240hp, that may not seem like alot but the car weighs in at about 2600lbs. that turbo kit cost $2500 the car cost maybe around $1500, you will have lots of money left to do what ever you want, nice rims, 16" watanabees are nice, stereo, nothing to heavy. the 240SX is rear wheel drive and has one of the best suspension systems out there. Theres so many things out there you can do. And unlike a mustang you wont see 5 on the way to mcdonalds.

Taurus SHO - Nice sleepers, fast too. Try to get 1st or 2nd gen because 3rd gen is IMO ugly and only come in autos.

Eclipse - Get 1st gen, 2nd gen have crank walk problems and theres to much of a risk of doing whatever you want to it and crank walk ruins your work. Turbo all wheel drive is a good combination, Intercool it, exhaust, boost controller, intake. Crank up the boost and that car has the potential to be realy fast.

RX7 - The early 90's RX7's were pretty reliable. You can swap in a turbo II engine pretty easily and do the same mods i mentions above. These cars also have very good handling.

But if domestics are your cup of tee, i recommend supercharging you current stang and do daul exhaust. Im pretty sure that will keep you satisfied for quite some time

- good luck.

thanks, im gona start checking out the 240sx and rx7. I asked my friend about the eclipse cuz he has one and theres lots of problems with it. If i do keep the mustang, supercharger is first but Im sure i have to a lot more mods to make it work better. btw, Is it possible to get a v6 mustang over 300hp?

Not realy sure, i would imagine so. Might have to do some internal work. Ask someone in the main forum, theres gotta be some real experts on this. Those supercharger kits may even bring you over it so i could be wrong. Even 260hp is gonna be fast, so dont worry. :bigthumb: good luck
